Re: whirlpool conquest side by side 2003 model
Facing the back of the frige there is a cardboard or metal panel across the bottom that covers the compressor. remove panel, on left side of compressor is the main control for the frig. there is a short in that board that causes this problem. youll need to replace te board

Check the inside, back lower wall inside the freezer. If there is ice built up on it, you have a defrost problem. if so the heater is most likely bad and will need to be replaced. You can take a blow dryer and defrost the ice, removing the panel so you can defrost behind it also. Once you have, you can see the heater and at that time you can get to it to check it and see if it's bad. You can put the panel back on and turn the fridge back on and it will work right for 3 to 4 days. This will give you time to either repair it or have it repaired without loosing any food. Good luck
IF YOU TAKE THE BACK PANEL OFF INSIDE THE FREEZER YOU WILL FIND A PIECE OF METAL UNDER THE EVAPORATOR COILS IN MIDDLE OF THIS METAL PAN IS A HOLE THAT LEADS THE WATER TO THE BOTTOM OF THE REF FOR EVAPORATION THE HOLE IN THE PAN IS PROBABLY PLUGGED TAKE THE ICE OUT AND CLEAR THER HOLE
hi thanks for the question the drain system is clogged the drain hose from the freezer to the drain tray undre neath the fridge by the compressor is clogged you may have to shut down the unit to let the ice melt that has caused this problem get a small plastic hose from a hardware store and shove it up the drain dose and blow air up the hose till its clear that's why you have to shut the fridge off for 24 hrs to allow the ice to melt then blow the air thanks the appliance doc
