Connecting a toshiba sd-v392 to an old analog tv

Mom had this laying around for a few years so I was trying to connect this for her 80th birthday. I need a 5th grader! haha

I bought the connector for the yellow, white and red output for the audio output and hooked it up to the "new digital converter box" and everything works okay except when I insert a audio DVD to hear, they is no sound.

I can watch the tv okay with sound.

I played the DVD on my computer and it works fine.

I switched the "s-video / componet" to componet and set "select progressive" to on and there is still no sound.

I did select DVD and not VCR.

Everything was unplugged before I connected the dvd / vcr. I even powered everything off and let it sit for 20 minutes and reconnected the power to the TV, converter box and then, dvd / vcr. No sound.

When I press PLAY, I can see the timer moving but no sound.

Any thoughts for this old fart will ge greatly apprecitated!

Make sure your menu settings are correct audio outputs may have a setting for digital or analog sound output check that these are set up to analog or stereo output .Also try hooking the sound up direct to a stereo system or amp to be sure you have output! Also you may not be able to get your sound thru the convertor box!! Because the convertor is a reciever of digital signals not a line amp. for audio !! Hope this helps11 AAAAAAAAAAAAAE!!!! Can you connect a hd converter to a Toshiba cx 32 g60 tv

there isn't much point in connecting an hd converter the toshiba cx32g60. the tv can only support an sd signal (composite video or ntsc analog). however, many hd set-top boxes (dvd players, cable and satellite) have composite outputs. these can be connected to your tv. blu-ray videos can't be watched with this tv. (the hdcp (high definition copy protection) can't be sent through most converters.)

if you want to watch ota programming , the cheapest option would be to find an sd digital-to-analog converter. these were the ones sold when most stations switched to digital tuners. some are being sold off as people replace their old analog sets. there are some hd tuner boxes, like this one: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?mc=03&p=3500stb&d=iview-hd-dvr-receiverconverter-box-for-tv-antenna-qam-%283500stb%29&c=digital%20converter%20boxes&sku= , that have composite video output which will connect to the cx32g60.

i hope this helps.

(if you tried an hdmi to component video converter followed by a component to composite video converter, the signal may degrade excessively.)

There audio but no picture

I don't know how you connect the unit to the tv.
Let's just start on basic:
composite video/audio(yellow-video, white/red-audio) connect to TV composite video/audio input behind the TV.
If the audio works but no picture, try to use another video input behind the tv.if that still doesn't work, use a different video cable!
Good luck!
