With Cancer On Fifth House Cusp you find the most pleasure and joy in your recreational pursuits when you are in the company of people or engaging in activities that are from or reminiscent of your childhood. You seek to feel emotionally nurtured, cared for, and/or protected by participating in activities or spending time with people that you hold fond memories of.
However, it's usually less about the activity itself, and more about how the activity and/or person or people you are doing the activity with make you feel about who you are.
With Cancer on the cusp of the fifth house we are dealing with creativity more than any other affairs of that house, although children, love affairs are involved. This is because, on a basic, mundane level, the Cancer person would tend to hold on to children, not cut the apron strings. For example, a woman with Cancer here would mother her boyfriends so that again, the basic emotions can be a trap into which she would fall when it comes to her relationship to her children and to her dates.
But on a higher octave, when we are thinking in terms of creativity, again the compassion and the understanding will enter into the picture. Now any creativeness in mankind must be coupled with emotion or feeling. An artist who only paints bowls of fruit certainly is demonstrating the technique of art, but a Cancer person on the cusp of the fifth house can paint a picture which would have an underlying theme of great feeling, compassion would be involved in the product. So it is, again, producing the "children" that is very important here. The feeling aspect must be there, but it must be a higher octave of it.
And, of course, always by direct reaction to the opposite house and house affairs, we are involved or concerned with the development of relationships. In the fifth house, the Cancer person must be very cautious about emotionally gambling with life, taking risks, taking chances needlessly. Again, it is the need for being more objective through the element of self control.
One of the Cancer qualities of emotional intensity could well be modified by the sunny qualities of Leo, since the fifth house is naturally Leo's house; the idea of taking it easy and enjoying rather than becoming tense with life.
As far as the creative quality is concerned, Cancer on the cusp of the fifth house could be rather intuitive in any creative talent, or creative product.
