If you are referring to the switch itself, you can connect the two wires, one on each side of the switch. It doesn't matter which one goes on either side.

SOURCE: how do I get to the lid switch to replace it on my washer

Pull of the end caps #14 & 11 on the diagram. Remove the screws and the front panel will flip up. Then there are 2 clips connecting the bac to the cabimet. Snap those out and the the WHOLE front of the machine comes off if you tilt it forward. Go to sears.com and parts to bring up any model for anything and you can kind of see how things go together. Good luck.

SOURCE: can't get top off kenmore washer model # 110 22852 100

No problem. What you want to do is this, remove the screws from the back panel first to remove that metal plate protecting the wires. Once off you need to take off the two covers on the sides of the control panel. There is one on each side, just pop them off. Once off you will see there is a screw under there holding the control panel in place. Remove the screws and that will lean back. Next take a flat head screw driver and put it under the lip of the lid on the front of the washer. I mean the lip that is about an inch down from the top on the front. Pry up and the whole lid will pop up. You will see the lid switch there held in by a screw, follow the wire to where it plugs in and unplug it and replace with the new one. Let me know if you have any other questions and if this was helpful to you. Always happy to help and good luck.

SOURCE: Maytag Washer lid switch

Ohm out the blue/ blk terminals on the sw (remove wire harnes first and notate wire color connection) with an ohmmeter-- Reading should be zero (closed lid position)
Then ohm the ylw and white sw terminals-- reading should be 0 as well.
If I am not mistaken this sw has a plunger that sticks out, if hte unit goes off balance this could push the plunger in. to reset- pull the plunger out

Maytag washer LSE7806ACE won't run in any cycle. Dryer works normally.

If the washer works with the water temperature set to warm or other setting different from what you normally use, something is wrong with the water fill solenoid valve for your usual setting (warm turns on both valves). A stuck or clogged valve would probably buzz, but a burned-out valve solenoid would be silent. The timer is waiting for a signal from the water level sensor switch, so if no water is coming in, it'll wait all day.

If that isn't it, check the terminals on the wires going to the lid switch for corrosion. Next, check the power switch (operated by pulling the knob out) at the controller/timer unit. (I assume that since you replaced the lid switch you know to unplug the machine before digging into it.) You'll want an ohmmeter to test continuity and contact resistance, or at least a continuity tester. Also check the power wiring where it goes between the washer and dryer sections.

Need to replace lid switch on maytag LAT9306AAE

Very easy job. Did you source a local appliance distributor for the switch. Always make sure before attempting any repairs to unplug the machine. You need to separate the lid from the base. Take a two inch wide putty knife/scraper and place it between the the top and bottom of the machine. Slide it along approx. 6 inches from both ends. Here you'll find spring loaded clips. Take the putty knife and push in and up on the clip prying up on the top at the same time. It takes a bit of power. I place a screw driver or a piece of a wood between the two pieces as a wedge. Now go to the other side and do the same. The back of the washer is hinged but be careful not to let it go back too far. Use something to prop it open, like a stick etc. Now the lock is exposed and can be replaced. Good luck

Want to disengage lid lock on maytag centennial

I had the same problem. The lid lock assembly is broken. If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White, and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)
After that the lid should work.
Please post a follow-up if this works for you.
GOOD LUCK

How do I replace the lid switch on a Maytag

Well the model # you listed goes to a Whirlpool machine so here goes.. The screws that hold the control panel on are located at the rear bottom of the end caps for the console/control panel, not the screws at the top of the control panel..
Once you remove those screws the control panel should slide forward 1/2 inch or so the up, and flip right over backwards towards the wall.
Once that is flipped up you will see the lid switch located in the left front corner under that console. Remove the 5/16" ground screw from the green wire, lift the connector release and remove the wire from the switch. Then carefully depress the plastic tab to release the switch and it should more or less lift right out.. No need to disassemble the entire cabinet.
whirlpool #8318084 $15-20 buks depending on where u are..
best of luck, have fun,

Maytag washer model LAT9306AAE won't come on - replaced blown fuse in machine & it blew again right away.

Fuses are there to protect from overheating and further damage to the appliance and/or wiring. A blown fuse is seldom ever the root cause of a problem... It is a symptom of a short or overload somewhere else in the circuit.

Check wiring to be sure there are no bare wires showing or shorting out against each other or the frame of the machine. Check that drive and pump motors turn freely (with power cord unplugged).

Your problem is NOT the fuse alone. Replacing it without correcting the root cause will result in yet another blown fuse.

Washer is "dead." Was stopped after fill up, and now no power.

Hi, I would check the lid switch first. Remove the two screws that hold the control panel to the cabinet and let it rest on the hinges. Locate the lid switch connection and either test it for continuity or use an insolates wire and jump the switch by inserting the wire into the gray and brown wires. Turn the washer on and see if it works.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Thanks

Need to replace Lid Switch for Maytag Atlantis 2002 Washer

Hello, I can help you.

Let me explain to you how the Maytag washer lid switch works.
The lid switch is located on the controls panel, and is activated by opening and closing the washer door. The purpose of the lid switch is to prevent the washer from working with the door open.

It is a safety device to prevent the user from sticking their hands inside of the washer while the washer is agitating or spinning.

When the washer lid switch stops working, the result could be that the washer won't wash, drain, spin and in some cases the washer will not work at all.

You will need a multimeter to check the internal contacts on the washer lid switch.

You will also need to use the wiring schematic to see what contact should be close when the lid switch supposed to be on.

You will need to remember that the Maytag washer lid switch is one of the first parts that you will need to check, when the washer don't want to start filling, agitating, draining or spinning.

Maytag Washer Just Stopped After it Filled With Water (Timer?)

Cant rule out the timer but I suspect first check the lid switch. The timer and other components are fed from the lid switch on most models. Just put the2 wires together and reapply power if it works replace the lid switch. If not you'll have to have a wire diagram to know where to check next, but your water level switch "fill switch" could be at fault. it stops the water valve 1 way and can energize the rest of the circuits the other way. It may not be closing in the "full" direction. Again this switch if so wired will have 3 wires on it.

How do you replace left lid lock on Maytag Neptune washer

Problem may be with door switch and not the door lock. If you are able you could try to locate the switch and jump the two wires together to see if the od code goes away. Even if it works you should not leave it that way but get a new switch and replace the faulty one.
