The Rubber O-Ring on my XL-2230 turned into a gel like substance. The rubber actually decomposed. So I went to the hardware store and found a replacement O-Ring made of a better material. Winds great now.

SOURCE: need a singer sew mate thread holder

Search the internet for:

Make + Model + the word "Parts"

If unsuccessful, a spool pin can be made using a small wooden dowel, a cut off plastic knitting needle, or taking a pin off a donor machine, or a variety of other items. There are also standalone thread stands that can be purchased that will set on the table behind your machine.

Replacing spool holder

If you search online for:

Make + Model + "replacement parts"

you may find a replacement. Otherwise, you can usually manufacture a spool holder using a drinking straw, wooden skewer, or something similar. There are also standalone spool holders for sale at various web sites. The spool holder doesn't necessarily have to be attached to your machine but can set behind or to the side of it. Some sewists throw the thread spool in a big coffee cup and just let it bounce around in there.

When the needle is not pulling the bottom tread

is this the first time you use a sewing machine? if you are very familiar with the way the thread is pulled out of the bottom spool, I'd say you need a technician, here is how to install bottom spool in case you don't know. after filling spool, pull thread out through the small gap on the side of the spool holder, then holding the small arm on the holder outward insert the spool holder in to the socket and release after fully inserted. after that the thread should come out the top by manually turning the machine to lower needle

I BOUGHT A WHITE 445 AT A GARAGE SALE, BUT I CAN'T FIND A PLACE TO HOLD THE SPOOL OF THREAD ON TOP.

There are 2 retractable spools on the top right of the machine. Just pull them up with your fingers.

I inherited an Elna 2002 and I can't figure out where the spool of thread goes on the machine. There are two round metal pieces surrounded by a piece of felt on the right side of the machine but nothing...

Can you pull the metal pin up, I know that the Elna 5000, 7000 and 9000 all had retractable thread spool holders. There might be a little lip on the edge of the metal pin that you can grasp with your nails to extract it upwards.

I just inherited an Elna 2002 machine and I can't figure out where the thread goes on the machine. I've looked at pictures of the machine but there's not a holder on my machine for the spool. There are...

tally_girl_22.jpg You need to pull them up from the retractable position for storage and transport, many Elnas have the retractable thread spools like this to protect them from breakage.

My LS2125i will sew a straight stitch but when I turn it to a zigzag stitch it takes a couple of stitches, then all of a sudden the top thread on the spool holder goes... whirl and winds the thread around...

sounds like your thread is getting caught in the thread spool's thread keeper notch. Make sure you use the spool holder disk with the closest size to the spool of thread to help prevent that. This is pretty common with old fashioned spools like coats and clark spools.

My brother suggests that i make sure the spool unwinds in a certain direction. You might check your manual to be certain the thread is unwinding the correct way.

Good luck.

My dad has just bought a second hand elna lotus sp sewing mashine and does not know how to get the spool out can you please help him he said it has type 35 on it

Look in the back. By the lever you will see a white knob on a spring. Pull this down, put it in the bobbin; lift out. This is the bobbin take out method. Hope this helps. Keep this machine. It is great and only increases in value.

Spool is bouncing on spool pin

Get a stand alone spool holder, sometimes the spool pins arent high enough to support the thread or you can try a thread sock
