To use the high level leads, you have to isolate the wires going to each speaker (if using 4 channel mode) or isolate the wires going just to the rear if you are using 2 channel mode. you have to strip a small piece of the insulation off each speaker wire, and run it into the amps high level input harness. if you dont have the high level input harness, you can get a 2 channel high level to rca adapter for around $20. basically, you are tapping into the signal to the stock speakers to feed music to the amp. make sure you get all your positives and negatives correct. brighter wires are usually positive; however you may be faced with sa speaker which uses a grey wire, and another grey wire- the second with a black line. you will have to, again, turn to internet research to determine which is positive and negative, if the colors are not obvious.

SOURCE: Trouble connecting marine amp to stereo

Hello lizskates814,

You can use either the high level (speaker) or the low-level (RCA's) inputs to the amp, but not both. Choose whichever one sounds the best or is more convenient to install and leave the other disconnected.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: PINs for high level input

Hello gmb_66,

You did not specify exactly which Jensen amp you have. None of the Jensen PowerPlus series I found had high-level inputs. You can go here and select your amp to download the manual. They should also have the connector for speaker inputs.

Most amps that have both high-level and RCA inputs allow you to use one or the other, but not both at the same time. If your head unit has RCA ourputs, those would be the ones to use, because they generally provide a cleaner signal to the amp with less noise.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Power cable size and fuse size for boss riot

you need to determine how long the wire run will be from the battery to the amp then check http://www.caraudiohelp.com/car_audio_wiring/car_audio_wiring.htm
this link will allow you to know what guage and how far at what amperage ,A rule I use is look at the fuse or fuses in the amp and match the amperage fuse at the battery ,no more than .The fuses in the amps are usually above the current that the amp will pull from the car battery .or alternator when running . That amp has a large power supply and runs low impedance (it will pull power from your car )Think about a capacitor ,unless you are installing in a truck with dual batteries .

I have a Fender G-DEC Guitar amp and it has an output for recording, can I connect it to the BOSS MICRO guitar input? The Fender amp has many rhythm functions which I am very familar with, besides it has...

you can use the line in/mic stereo input, but you will have to turn the input level way down to around 1 or 2.

i assume that the record outputd a re rca outs. you can get a rca stereo to 1/8 inch stereo adapter, like the ones they use to connect protable cd palyers to recievers, and then get a 1/8 inch stereo to 1/4 inch stereo adapter form radio shack to complete the connection.

High pitched noise coming from speakers after installing stereo

check your wires if they are too near some big power wires and move them away from these high powered wires or check your grounds and make sure its a good ground by scrapping the connection until bare metal. Also its a possibility rca's or wires are getting pinched or not fully connected.

Where are the amps and how do i by pass them for the stereo

The amps are located inside the radio. Most in-dash receivers that provide for "pre-amp outputs" also called "low level outputs" do so by providing female RCA type jacks. These are often found at the end of a short (4 - 6 inch) cable and are usually color coded red & white or red & black (some receivers provide a yellow RCA jack for video in / out, too). To use these RCA audio jacks, you need to realize that one jack is for the left channel source and the other is for the right channel source for a stereo signal. You will have to connect a compatible plug and cable of enough length to extend to a remote amplifier's RCA input jacks. The vehicle's speakers would also need to be connected directly to the same amplifier's output terminals. Using the two audio (left and right) RCA jacks will only allow the radio to control balance of the left and right audio, no fader (front and rear) control is possible. To get fader control, you'd have to either have a radio with four RCA low level output jacks (front L & R *and* rear L & R), or use the radio's speaker (or high level output) wires and connect them to the amplifier's speaker (or high level) input terminals.

All unused receiver wires should be terminated in a wirenut or securely wrapped in electrical tape to prevent accidental contact with grounded metal or other wires behind the dash.

I hope this helps!

Legend Amp hook up manual.

Pretty Straight Forward get a 8 or 4 gauge amp wiring kit.

Run your hot wire to the +12V from the battery make sure to install the supplied inline fuse near the battery don't connect to the battery until installation is complete.

Run the REM to your stereo power ant. Wire. if available.

Run the GND to Metal Chassis Ground keep it as short as possible.

Run the RCA Cable from the back of the Stereo to the RCA Inputs or Low Level on the amp.

This amp is 2 Ohm Stereo Stable which means you can connect 2 (4 ohm) speakers in parallel to each channel or 1 (4 ohm) speaker on each channel or you can connect 1 (4 ohm) Speaker in bridged mode.

There are other speaker configurations you could use but you cannot drop the load below 2 Ohm in stereo mode and no lower than 4 ohm in bridged mode.

Hope this helps

Connect powered subwoofer

  • If your receiver has a dedicated subwoofer line level output, we recommend connecting your subwoofer to this jack. Most receivers will have just one (mono) subwoofer output, while quite a few subs require two inputs. You can use an RCA "Y" adapter cord , which is a cable with one female RCA jack at one end, and two male RCA plugs at the other. Some receivers require menu settings (such as "sub-on" or "front speakers-small") that must be made before the sub output will be active.
