Janome Machine will not feed material !!

What is wrong with my machine when this appears on the screen "stepping motor error"?
The stepping motor feeds the material through the foot of the machine.
It appears that you have an issue with this motor.
You can check the machine, oil and clean the machine to see if this helps.

I searched the internet using https://www.google.comI only saw parts for that model number. Could it be named New Home in order to search or request manuals?I saw a youtube video for a different model showing a technician carefully opening a machine to repair a similar problem. Make sure the feed dogs have not been dropped, ie for darning or free motion quilting. Also, make sure the stitch length is set high enough to actually create a forward stitch.

Be careful sewing thick materials with a domestic machine. Even though a lot of machines are supposedly able to sew thick leather & fabrics, it could damage your machine in the long run. If you value your machine, you might want to find a second machine (used mechanicals, older Singers, etc., probably work better for this purpose) to sew thick fabric. Save your nice primary machine for more conventional uses.

Make sure you have threaded the bobbin thread correctly. Also your top thread must be correctly threaded in order to pick up the bobbin thread.

I hate to sound dismissive but: read the manual. Duh. It is not as written above: drop dog........
The feed dog is the toothed pieces in the sewing machine deck, under the needle, which move the material away from you when you push the operating pedal.
Dropping the dog - ie making it inoperative - (see manual for how to on your machine) means the material has to be propelled by hand under the needle. This is especially good for freehand machine embroidery as it means you can move the material in any direction whilst sewing.
It can be easier to freehand embroider if your material is fixed in to an embroidery hoop to hold it flat while you work.

If you remove the accessory box and look carefully behind it, you'll see a feed dog drop sliding button. Just slide the button over to the other position, take a few stitches, and voila, the feed dogs pop up again! Hope this helps...

Are the feed dogs engaged? Janomes usually have a feed dog sliding switch, either on the back of the sewing machine at the bottom, or behind the accessory case. Be sure the check it out. Hope this helps!
