I have a S&W .38 Spl revolver my uncle carried as a cop 60 years ago. The model appears to be a 66 2 5.
It is not a .357 mag. Can you tell me what the real model is? Thanks, Dave

Maybe that web site could provide more assistance to you.
In the web site above it states in a discussion that the: "M88 revolver started with W.
N"Hi, This is want I can tell you about Interarms imported Rossi revolvers.
Don't know about other importers.
Model 88 (5 shot SS 38special) had W prefix followed by six digits.
Model 68 (5 shot blue or nickel 38 special) either had D or AA prefix followed
by six digits.
No part or serial number or prefix indicates month/year etc.""
