Well I went to my computer clicked my ipod and when the folders came up you go up top to "tools and folder options" and go to the tab that says "view" and click the one that says "show hidden folders." Then click "ipod control" then "Device" and delete the file that says "_lock" or something on that line. If you any questions email me at [email protected]

SOURCE: the computer can't detect the iPod..it only says Apple Ipod help please!

you need to download itunes software for the computer to recognize your ipod and to synchronize your songs. download and install itunes in your computer. Thanks

If you blocked the iPod, with the wrong passcode, it will ask you on the screen, to enter the password from the Apple id he has. Only a part of the account name is to be seen on the screen.
If that does not work, take the iPod and the invoice and your ID to the Apple store and ask them to reset it. That could take some time (days) but as long as you can prove it is yours, I think they will help. Be aware if his "friend" changed the password on the Apple Account, he or she can buy everything with the credit card connected to the Apple id. eventually ask Apple to block the account if you see some purchases on your credit card.

After that Re-sync option for applying new iPod Password,

Apple iPod's arent fixable whit cd/dvd drivers. If you wan to repair/restore your iPod do the following. WATCH OUT ! It deletes all music and everything that's on your iPod.
