SOURCE: I just received a Kindle Paperwhite, I own two other Kindles. The new one is asking me to register, are my previous two not registered ?

Yes they could well be registered. New ones seem to be called "Richard's 3rd Kindle" or similar.

Someone kindly gave me a kindle...how do i set it up please?

First, I'm not a AMAZON Kindle Tech.
* If it is "Open" (unlocked) then charge it up using the micro USB slot.
* If you can turn it on and the main menu goes on. Swipe the "Padlock" icon to open. Then swipe from top to bottom to get the menu display (for Kindle fire), Paper white will need to press the mode button (only button on the face of pad)
* If this is still a registered device then the regular menu will pop up and you will need to access the device menu by swiping top of screen downward. Select "+More" which will pull up the "Settings" menu. Select "My Account". Select "Deregister" continue and set up your Amazon account.
* If you want to wipe everything and reset the kindle (as giving it away to someone else) then go to "Settings" menu and select "Device". Select "Reset to Factory Defaults" then follow instructions. This will wipe all data and your account info as well as emails, bank records, etc.
* Resetting the Kindle to factory will be the same as if you just bought it from the store. It will automatically go through the welcome screen and help you set up your kindle and give a short beginner's course.

Select "Register" and enter the same username and password of the Amazon.com account you were using on your old Kindle. Visit the "Manage Your Kindle" page on your computer's Web browser, and click the "Actions" button to the right of your previously purchased or downloaded Kindle content.

I now have the first Kindle that came out but today purchased the White paper Kindle. How do I get info from the first kindle to the current one?

1. Go to your first Kindle's settings, connect to WiFi. Go to Device Name. CAREFULLY write down the Device Name, including spaces, punctuation and capitalization. For instance:
Bob's 1st Kindle
2. Do the same for your Send-to-Kindle Email name such as:
[email protected]
3. Deregister Device (You might have to deactivate parental controls to do this).
4. Open your new Paperwhite settings, go to Register Device, name it the same as your original kindle, give it the same Send-to-Kindle email, and all of your content should be available almost right away.
In your library, very little may show up on DOWNLOADED. You might have to go to ALL to see your books and download the ones you want.

If Amazon automatically named your new Paperwhite in sequence, for instance:
Bob's 2nd Kindle
you will have to deregister that one before renaming it to the original name.
Enjoy! I'm on my third Kindle.

I cannot set up my paper white

Most important is to register with amazon. IF you have not created an account at Amazon.com, you will need to do that first. Then you can register your paperwhite there or From paperwhite. tap the 3line icon on the right. tap settings, Start with Registration and Household. If this device has been registered it will say registered to: and name and ask if you wish to deregister. If it has not been registered tap and enter you info. You will need to know your amazon account name and password. If you have other people in the house that will be allowed limited access you can set up space for them. Device options will let you set up things you want your kindle to do. I set my Reading options all of them off. I set Airplane mode to off. You only need to set-up Wi-Fi if you wish to download from the store while away home. You can read anything that has been added to you library, anytime and anywhere.
For additional help: log into amazon.

How do I receive my kindle books when my email address is different?

Hi,

I assume you mean kindle books you order online (not from the kindle itself?)

They are delivered to your Kindle based on what you have registered on line, not to your email. Therefore changing your email address should not matter (at least directly).

When you say 'moved' - do you mean moved house physically (which does not matter at all) or moved to using a new kindle? Assuming you mean a new kindle, you need to
A) make sure the kindle is registered to your Amazon account: go to home screen, touch top of screen to bring up menu and then press the 'three lines button', select settings. There should be option to register (you will need email address and password - so you need to make sure your online Amazon account has correct email address registered! This is where email change might be causing problems, but can be updated online)

B) when you order books online you need to select the correct kindle to deliver to in the drop down box next to the order button (it might be called something like "Paul's Second kindle")

You can access all books you have ever bought (for this kindle or any other) on Kindle paper white by selecting 'cloud' when on the list of books at home screen.

Hope that helps, if not please reply and explain in more detail what you are doing and what happens / does not happen
