Be sure to use a brand new needle--old or bent/damaged needles frequently will not pick up bobbin thread.

If that does not resolve the problem, the machine has most likely been knocked out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

My bobbin wont pick up on me simplicity se3

Make sure the needle is not bent and fully inserted into the holder. Replace needle if in doubt.

Be sure the bobbin is properly loaded onto case.

Only use the bobbin designed specifically for this machine.

Be sure the bobbin thread is captured by the bobbin tension spring when you load bobbin into machine. Use your left hand to position bobbin thread per machine instructions. Press on the bobbin with right index finger to prevent the bobbin from turning as you position bobbin thread. Dont use the bobbin thread trimmer, yet.

With left hand put tension on the bobbin thread as you pull bobbin thread towards the trimmer. When the bobbin thread is in the tension spring you can release right index finger and you will feel the resistance of the bobbin tension spring. Now finish the bobbin thread per machine instructions and use the bobbin thread trimmer.

I have a Simplicity S07 DecoMate and I cannot get the bobbin thread to pick up.

If the machines are very similar, then they most likely thread the same. Usually, the only difference is that sometimes one will have a few extra fancy stitches or extra feature.

Be sure to install a brand new needle. (Be sure the needle is inserted correctly--the flat side faces a particular direction.) Check that the bobbin is installed and threaded correctly in the bobbin case (is it turning the correct direction). If this doesn't resolve the issue, the machine has most likely been knocked out of time--most often by hitting a pin or a particularly thick seam. You can search online for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

I can't get the needle thread to pick up the bobbin thread. It's driving me crazy!

Is this a result of you having a problem? One of two things

1) You knocked the clutch out, check you manual on locking the timing back in
2) You knocked the timing off enough that the bobbin hook isn't picking the needle thread up.

Look at the bobbin area and slowly spin the hand wheel. Does your bobbin hook move at all? If it is moving look to see if the hook passes the needle just as the needle begins it's upward journey.

Good Luck!

How do you thread the machine, top and bottom, please.

From the Simplicity Sew Precious Model SWSP2 manual:

Inserting a new bobbin:
  1. Place wound bobbin into the bobbin case.
  2. Pull about 6 inches of thread out from the bobbin.
NOTE: Be sure that the bobbin rotates COUNTER-CLOCKWISE when thread is pulled.
  1. Pass the thread from the bobbin, under the bobbin case spring, and toward the back of the machine.
  2. Slide bobbin cover back into position.

Upper threading:
  1. Turn the handwheel toward you to raise the take-up lever to its highest position.
  2. Lower the presser foot.
  3. Place a spool of thread and spool cap on the spool pin.
  4. Place the thread into the first thread guide at the top of the machine.
  5. Bring the thread down the right slot of the threading path, then around the tension dial. Push the thread tension release lever and pull the thread up so the thread is secure in the thread tension dial.
  6. Bring the thread up the left slot of the threading path and through the take-up lever from right to left.
  7. Bring the thread back down the left slot of the threading path and into the needle eye from front to back. (Clip the thread end with sharp scissors fro easier needle threading.)

Raising the bobbin thread
  1. Make sure the presser foot lever is raised.
  2. Hold the end of the needle thread with your left hand. Turn the hand wheel toward you with your right hand until the needle goes down once and comes back up, stopping when the needle is at its highest position.
  3. Gently pull up on the needle thread. The bobbin thread, looped around the needle thread, will be drawn up through the needle hole.
  4. Push the thread tension release lever and pull about six inches of both the upper and lower threads toward the back of the machine, placing them under the presser foot.
