SOURCE: F3 error GE Spacemaker XL 1800: Model JVM1851CD.

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad (aka membrane switch).

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs nationwide.

Either way, we can let you know what your options and costs would be and send you other helpful info.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me
directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

I need instructions on how to set the clock and use the cd and radio on the ge spacemaker 75292a/super slim kitchen cd

These GE Spacemaker Superslim Kitchen CD Players can't be found even on the GE Appliances site. Even a Google site search of GE Appliances turns up nothing for 7-5292a. I can find some pictures of the line of these devices on ebay but that's about all. However, you do have two options at least. You can contact GE support. --Or, you can take a look at this manual I found for the 7-5330 model and see if its instructions help you. I have not found a manual for your model on the web. Page 6 of the manual below offers instructions to setting a clock, page 7 for radio, page 8 for CD.

I lost my remote for my GE Slim Spacemaker model 7-5300. Where can I get another one?

www.remotes.com says that this remote is NLA. No Longer Available.

You may have to buy a whole radio/remote off of ebay.

How do you set the alarm?

I couldn't find a manual for this model, but you might be able to get information from the manufacturer. This information is from the GE site here:

In 1987 GE sold its home electronics business to Thomson®, Inc. For a time, Thomson® produced many products that carried the GE name, but now only manufactures telephone and communications products.

The items that they support but no longer manufacture include:

  • Audio products
  • Camcorder
  • Cassette recorder
  • CD player
  • Clock radio
  • Spacemaker radio
  • Spacemaker TV
  • Television
  • Video camera
For assistance with any of these older products or your current GE telephone products please call 1-800-447-1700 in the US. In Canada, call 1-800-522-0338 (English) or 1-800-522-0445 (French).

Thomson, Inc.
PO Box 671988
Marietta, GA 30006-0034

Try calling the phone number listed. They might be able to supply you with a copy of the manual. Hope this helps a little. Thanks for using Fixya!
