? doesn't this control On/off on a thermostat ?? the button your referring to is it the piliot test button ? if so I guess you've found a loophole in there test strategy by holding it down for five minutes to get it too stay on ,
what does this heater do when it shuts off on seeing a heated water temp to setpoint (or doesn't it ?) as if the test button is the only way to light it , this button bypasses a few normal safety switches (allthogh I didn't know about the five minute thing) one of the most common safetys that goes on these heaters is the heat exchanger over temp switch , seems the wires get hot and the little connectors fall off it
The thermocouple is bad or not aligned properly. It is the metal bar in front of the pilot light. This bar senses the heat
put off by the pilot light. If it does not get hot it will not allow
the gas to flow. You either need to align it so that it is in front of
the pilot light and receives enough heat to allow the gas valve to
operate or possibly the thermocouple has gone bad and needs replacing.
It could also be that you are not waiting long enough. The thermocouple must sense the heat for at least one minute or more before it will let the gas valve turn on. Turn everything to off for at least five minutes. Re-light the pilot light and let it burn for at least one minute and then try turning the knob to on.
If your furnace lights and the gas stays on for 8 to 10 seconds, then shuts
right back off, then you need to clean your flame sensor with light sand paper
or steel wool. You might need a new flame sensor, but most of the time they can
be cleaned an will work well after cleaning.
I have a Rinnai Ventless heater hooked up to a 20 lb propane cly with a Moble home type regulator in line, and when I light it the pilot light lights and stays on. When I turn it to the heat position the pilot light go's out and that it!
Hi, I got my on tour a couple of months ago and it worked fine. But just recently it starts stopping emitting any sound one hour or so after I start it. No sound at all, and the light goes off too. If I press one of the buttons, the light will glim just once.
