Shop vac doesn't work. Does my shop vac have a thermo fuse?

Is there a thermo fuse in my shop vac model lb650c ? Wont turn on, checked continuity in switch, and not have receipt to return. It was gift back in April of 2016, and only used 4 times for a total of about 1 hour since. Any suggestions? Thanks. V.

Contact the manufacturer of device. They may help you. If not, make sure that current is reaching the on/off switch and that the power is reaching the motor - if power gets to motor and still nada then the issue is probably with the brushes not making proper contact with the commutator.

Shop vac stopped working

Motors have a thermal safety fuse in the field winding. If it overheats, it will blow and either can be replaced or the whole field winding will have to be replaced. It is wired and is not considered to be a user servicable item.

There is a hidden thermo fuse in the tape on one of the field windings. If it overheats that fuse will blow and the motor won't run until replaced.

Are you sure that the filter is pushed all the way to the bottom of the container? Just take it out and put it back and make sure the filter retainer is gently turned all the way.

Craftsman shop vac no power when turn on

I just picked up a similar model someone was throwing away. turns out there is a thermal fuse inside the motor housing that blew. I just need to find the values of the fuse and repalce with appropriate size. motor runs when fuse is bypassed.

Shop vac 90L400 stopped working won't start

I had the same problem with the same model. Turned out to be the thermal fuse on the motor housing, between the switch and the windings. Took it apart and replaced the melted solder with 14 guage copper wire. Works fine! No thermal protection but I don't use it for long at a time anyway. Check the switch for continuity, if good then check the thermal fuse for continuity. If good, it's the motor.
