How do i a external hard drive on a acer a500

Hi there,

In order to attach an external drive to your acer tablet you need to make sure that it has been upgraded to run Android 3.1 which offers better support for external drives. The second thing you need is some sort of file manager software so that you can browse the files and folders on your tablet. I use File Manager HD as it is one of the first file managers to support honeycomb tablets (others do now as well though).

My laptop (Acer Aspire 4530) cannot read my portable hard disk. It's say devices not ready & when I click to the icon it's say device not accessible. When I used the other laptop, there is no problem to...

You may need to install drivers for the portable device on the computer that will not read it. Some systems do not recognize other externals if the drivers are not in the directory for the drivers being used. You should have a driver cd for the external so you can install the drivers into the other system. Hope this helps.

Black screen.

Always worth a go, but probably you will need to attach the HD to another pc.
There a a couple of ways to do this.
1 open pc remove HD and attach to the other pc
2 remove HD and fit it into an external hard drive enclosure
or finaly there are usb hard drive docks that you just push your hard drive in.

How do I play and/or connect to my iTunes from and external drive

Attach your external drive.
Create the directory on that drive that you want Itunes to store your music.
Open up Itunes.... go to the edit menu and select preferences.
Go to the advanced tab. there is an option there for change my preferred directory. Change this to the directory you created at the beginning of this instruction.
Now copy all of you songs from your music folder on the laptop to the one on the external drive.
Confirm that ALL of your songs transferred OK then delete them from the laptop.

You should NOW be all set to enjoy music from your external drive. (Be sure to always have your external drive attached when you open Itunes.... If yoou don't Itunes will look for the external, not find it and revert BACK to the default directory)

Hope this helps you

Recognized - but no mount

Don't know about the MAC part, but an I/O error implies that the either the source file cannot be read or the destination drive will not write. This is usually an indicator of a bad HDD. To check, I would attempt to connect the external drive to another computer. If it still gives the same indication, contact the drive manufacturer about data recovery recommendations
