SOURCE: Can't find virus protection program

The ones that come free with purchase are generally a trial offer and you will have to pay for future protection.

AVAST FREE is the best Anti-Virus I've seen, once you register by e-mail they send you an activation code and it is done

Besides, I'm a firm believer of free.

SOURCE: software mac tuneup

Hey, I'm not mac whiz, but the best way to remove the software from the computer is to type in the name of the program in the finder search bar, and physically drag it into the trash and empty it. I called mac support about it, and now they are trying to be better with the uninstall aspect of their new programs, but there are so many more programs for tune up that could be compatible with leopard on the main website.
Also every once in a while, you should zero out your free space (which is similar to defragment) by going to the finder menu next to the apple on the top left part of the screen, selecting the services submenu and then disk utility. It dosent matter which one you chose under disk utility. When that window opens up, you click on your mac hd icon on the left and then choose erase from the options on the menu. (THIS WILL NOT ERASE YOUR EXISTING INFO) Select the top option (Zero Out Deleted Files) and this will place zeros which will take the fragments of files left on your mac off. I hope this was helpful and good luck!

SOURCE: macbook extra fan

The real issue seems to be that the system firmware designers haveoptimized for a quiet machine at the expense of the temperature. Theeasiest way to fix this? A firmware update, perhaps not unlike the one released recently with almost no details.Several reports from users indicated this update increased the use oftheir fans and fixed their heat issues. Isn't that an astonishingcoincedence?

Although Apple said that the update was to "System Management Control(SMC)" firmware, it was up to MacBook Pro (MBP) users to figure outthat SMC is the specialized controller that manages thermal and power conditions, and is in charge of running the portable's fans.
Within hours of the update, users began reporting that the updateseemed to increase the MacBook Pro's use of its fans, and usingdiagnostic tools, claimed that their machines were running up to eightdegrees cooler.

Click on blue link to update and fix fan issue.

SOURCE: i can not change mac address of wireless card

This post ONLY applies if you are running a version of linux on you computer, NOT windows.
First, you need to get a shell/terminal open (try pressing ctrl+alt+t) Next, you need to figure out what interface you want to change the MAC address for, so type: ifconfig You should get a list of interfaces, with the names in a column on the left side. Look for the one that has the MAC address you want to change. The name might be something like "eth0", but not necessarily. Now that you have the name, what you want to type next is: ifconfig {name of the interface} down ifconfig {name of the interface} hw ether {your new MAC address} ifconfig {name of the interface} up
I just have to say this: make sure you DO NOT type the {curly braces} or anything in them. You probably didn't, but I needed to say it anyway.
Hope this helped!

After protectmac scans my files and clears a virus, does that mean it has already fixed the problem?

"ProtectMac," also known as "MacGuard," "MacProtector," and "MacSecurity," is a scam. You or someone who uses your computer was tricked into installing this program which looks very much like a legitamite anti-virus program.
However, it is a scam. The purpose of this program is to trick you into thinking you have a virus and then collected your credit card information to "remove" the virus. The thief then clears out your bank account.

If you have 10.6, a Software Update has been released to remove this program. Check the Apple Menu > About This Mac, and see what version you have. If you have 10.6 or higher, click the Software Update button to download and install the relevant update.

If you have 10.5 or lower, you will need to remove the program manually.

Open Application > Utilitlies > Activity monitor and look for MacDefender / Mac Protector, double click on it and force quit. Then go to your application folder and drag Mac Defender to the trash. Also go to system preferences > accounts > login items to see if there is anything related to MacDefender, if there is click on it then click on the minus sign to remove it.

Good luck, and in the future, if anything online tells you that you are infected with a virus, you have won a million dollars, or you can refinance your mortgage at a low rate, IT IS A SCAM.
Close the window in question and ignore it.

Internet security barrier message reading fatal error

As a general rule, you are only supposed to have one active Anti-virus/security suite and one active firewall. Otherwise the programs are prone to interference and your security is compromised.
I recommend you make some choices, limit it to that, then slowly learn the individual characteristics of the programs in use and see if there are places where non-interfering supplements may be installed to beef up the system, or close any gaps. Explore the mac os x security forums online and heed the advice of expert users.

Should I install?

IF - you haven't got an anti virus program already, its a very good idea to install it, now that you have paied for it.
ON - the other hand, if you already have an anti-virus program installed, and install another one, you will find that these two program will kill you computer all together - try to destroy each other.
