Have you checked the internal temp with an oven thermometer?

The thermostat might need calibrating or replacing, or, (if electric) the oven might be seeing an "overload" condition and shutting off.

Oven, model number 3510PRW does not reach the temperature dialed. To get to 300 degrees I have to put it on 500 degrees. Thank you for your help!

Either 2 thing can go wrong
1. you temp sense probe is failing
2. you temp offset on your dial got loose, or your knob is messed up

My Magic Chef gas oven thermostat is not working properly. At 400 degrees it only heats to 200 degrees and at 500 degrees it only heats to 300 degrees. Do I need to replace it or can I calibrate it?

ther is a temp sensor that goes from the control valve to the oven, this may be the problem, make sure sensor probe is tight where it screws into the gas valve and other end is not just hanging in the oven, it attaches to the top of oven,if it's where it's supose to be, I'd change that first

Oven won't come on unless you press bake and immediately hit arrow to 400 degrees. Can this be fixed

Yes, this is most likely a thermostat problem. If you have tried every temp level below 400 and it will not come on until you reach 400 on the dial, then you most likely have a temp sensor switch/ thermostat problem.
I had to assume alot of things here:
1. It is an electric oven.
2. Once you get the oven to start at the magic number and try to dial down from there, the oven turns itself off.
3. It will start up as long as the temp is first set at 400 degrees or higher.

Magic chef smooth top electric free standing oven temperature

Most likely a bad temperature sensor if the bake element is coming on and not reaching temperature.
The temperature sensor is in the back wall of the oven up high on the right or left side depending upon your model number. It is about 3 inches long and about the size of a thin pencil. It removes from the inside of the oven.

Oven is not reaching proper temperatures

You most likely have either a faulty thermistor or heating element that will need to be replaced.

Magic chef oven/stove top range not staying hot

Hi, It very well could be the ignitor. Sometimes they work at first and then will not open the gas valve later in cycle. You can set the oven to heat and watch the ignitor. If it glows and the gas will not ignite in 30 to 45 seconds, the igniter is getting weak. I jope this helps.
Please let me know if I can assit you further.

Oven does not heat up

I had the same problem with my magic cheff oven. I had to set the temp at 400 - 500 degrees to get to get an actual oven temp of about 250 degrees. The oven temp sensor checked ok with an ohm meter. Should be around 1100 ohms at room temp. I work in the electronics industry and know capacitors go out of range and dry out with heat and over time so I replaced the 3 or 4 electrolitic capacitors on the timer board. Cost me about $6.00 at Radio Shack and now my oven temp is right on the money. I realize not everyone may want to do this but it worked for me. Better than the $200.00 for a new oven timer control board. I have also found a company's website that fixes these boards for about $89.00 ApplianceTimers.com

Adjust temperature to 550 degress.
Press the bake key again and hold it for 3 seconds.
The temperature +/- should appear.
You can then adjust temp +/- 35 degrees.
