Question about Sylvania 6420FB 20" TV

1 Answer

The Picture is too big for the tv screen

For some reason the picture of my tv extends beyond the screen. If for example espn were on, I would be unable to see the score at the top of the screen. So I guess it would be about one inch of the picture is lost, most noticably from the top.

I got the TV on Christmas 2006 and I often times leave it on all night, but other than that I don't do anything to that could really be considered damaging. Could leaving it on be what is causing the problem, and if so, can it be fixed without costing me a lot of money?

My picture looks like it's been zoomed in on. I can't see subtitles or tops of peoples heads. How do I get the picture to fit on my 32" screen. I don't know why this suddenly started happening.

Try your format button... or your wide/size button... they're all a bit different but they all have different screen size capabilities.

hope this helps

Look up your user manual, it sounds like your zoom feature has been activated to the max. I have a Zenith backlit LCD TV and it has a zoom feature you control from your remote. You could open up your on screen menu and find the place to reset the TV to factory settings that should clear up the problem.

Picture size won't fit screen. Can't see scrolling text at bottom (e.g. sports scores on ESPN)

hi there,

its probably not the tv but the set top box you need to fix. go to the settings and select the mode you want ie. widescreen 16:9 etc

then go to the tv and select the full mode or widescreen mode at 16:9

that should solve your problem. it takes some time to find the combination between the set top box and the tv to get it right

good luck

hey voiolentce. if you press the # button on the cablebox remote control you can fine tune the zoom by those 20 pixels you want. you are most likely set at zoom 1 currently. thats where i was when i had this same problem and it took me days to figure out that all i needed to do was press the damn # button. i couldnt see any of the scores on espn sports games and its been driving me crazy. hope this helps!
