Question about Frigidaire FTF2140E 3.5 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer

Frigidaire FTF2140ES0 Front Loader

I have no problems with this machine other than the water that gathers in the front rubber ring after every wash. I am religious in wiping it out each time and it has still grown this brownish/black mold in the ring - it's hideous and it won't even come out now. I wipe the water out - always leave the door open in between washes and run a bleach cycle weekly and this has still happened. Any one else with the same problem/any solutions?

Do you leave the door open between washes? If not, the innards will stay damp, and you'll get mold.

Pretty much all front-loaders have this problem...

Generally speaking grass clipping etc will stay in tub on a hi efficiency washer. That's why the water level is very low also-high efficiency, low water use. Most LG washers have an extra water button to add a small level of water per wash.

I have a 6 - 7 year old kenmore front loader HE3 that has soap film/scum inside of the large rubber ring. Any suggestions how to get rid of this????

Take a rag and using warm water and a cleaner like "simple green", spray the rubber ring and then wipe it with the damp rag.

I can't see it but my maytag neptune has moldly smell. How do I get rid of it?

Maytag's solution was to run an empty load using hot water and a cup of bleach instead of soap. According to them you are supposed to do this quite often. If the rubber ring that seals the door gets mold on it you are supposed to use a water/bleach solution and wipe it down with a rag.

I have a bosch classixx 1200 when i wash a load of whites there is often a small amount of dark spots of deposit on the sheets if this is wiped off when wet it rubs into the material if we wait until dry...

Yes - I get this - you have to wipe the inside of the drum rubber ring - not just throught the groves but sludge seems to collect in between the rubber ring and metal drum; you will need quite a bit of kitchen towel!

Brown streaks

Remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the ports on the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clear of rust and debris. A common problem is the screens getting rusty and putting the iron oxide into the wash water causing brown stains or streaks to get on clothing and sometimes leaving a brown ring around the tub. I will attach a photo for reference. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

I have sitting water in bottom of outer ring after wash cycle.

The Neptune will typically have a bit of water in the front seal area after the cycle.
Take a towel and wipe the area clean and dry after heavy loads. There is a drain in the bottom. Wiping this area will help keep the drains clearer and help prevent ordors too.

Mold in rubber ring front loader Fridgidare washer

Common problem. Clean the moulding as best you can, even scour with steel wool. Leave the door open so the machine will be dry when not in use or/and wipe the rubber after each use. You can try to cover up the odour by wiping with a rag moistened with vanilla essence. Otherwise fit a new rubber and keep it dry in future.

Washer smells have tried wiping the rubber ring and dealer sold s

You may find it hard to believe, but most newer front load washers have this problem after being in use for a while. Mine is a GE, and they have the worst reputation according to owner forums.

So here's the fix:

First, I assume you know that little pieces of stuff build up under that rubber ring at the bottom. You need to clean that out with 50% bleach and 50% water. Occasionally it doesn't hurt to run a quick wash without detergent through the machine empty. Add bleach liberally to the water. After it is done, leave the door open a crack to allow it to dry.

It's the nature of the beast!

if the washer is still leaking, take the outlet pipe and place it in a dish on the floor , the water is greater and should come out of the pipe, keep watching until empty . remember there can be a lot of water in a washing machine
