We need far more information - lens in use, shutter speed and aperture settings, white balance setting, ISO setting, exposure compensation, lighting conditions, subject matter etc. All of these have a bearing on exposure. From your description, it sounds as if your images are seriously under exposed. Have you looked in the trouble-shooting section of the camera manual ?

Lens coatings sometimes aren't as robust as they should be and some of the lenses are compound types and take a deal of dismantling/reassembly.

I suggest, if you aren't used to servicing optics you should entrust the work to a specialist, especially as Pentax is a fairly premium product.

Camera shoots all the film then rewinds.

Repair would be at least $139 from Blue Moon Camera. I would buy another MZ-50 (ZX-50 is the same) off eBay or you could buy a ZX-30 from Blue Moon Camera for $75 with 1 year warranty. They are professional.

Diopter out of ajustment

pentax is one of the good guys and has a great serice center. why no send it back and ask for a replacement, if your sure you are focusing properly there should be no problem. [email protected]
