Hi Michael
To properly diagnose your problem, I will need your MODEL no.
This may cover your model as its a general fault code.
Samsung Split Air Conditioner Error Fault Code - E101 / E102
Definition Of Error Code: Communication Error (Indoor Outdoor) Check any wiring and plugs for proper connection. Please give Model no. for further diagnostic help.
Yes if they match up correctly. I would stay away from Ruud though. Best off with Carrier or Trane in my opinion. Also, if your spending the money to replace the condenser, you should spend the extra bit and replace the air handler as well. New systems use a new refrigerant that is more cost effective and better for the environment.
Sounds like you have a heatpump. Is that correct? When it gets under 35F or so the heatpump just isn't able to keep up with the heat demand and will require help from a backup source such as electric strip heaters. The way the thermostat works is that the heatpump will work until room temperature gets 2F to 4F below what you have the thermostat set for, the Auxillary heat will kick in to help out. I think I am answering your question, please let me know if I have misread your problem and I'll try to come up with something else.
Turn off the heatpump. Start it again when temperature gets hotter than -20c.... Error C4 or CA (overheated compressor) often strikes after C2 error (and this error you often get when temp is belov -25c)
I had the same error myself, temperature was below -27. I turned the heatpump OFF. Turned it on again when temp was at -8c. No errors in display, and runs great! :-)
