The set can recieve analogue transmissions or cable signal only, for digital transmission a converter box would be needed

The most common problem for this set that will cause shutdown after a few seconds is the inverter board. Looking at the set from the back, it is the long slim board that is normally located on the far left side of most lcd tv's. There are 3 electrolytic capacitors located on this board, and changing them will fix a lot of these sets for this problem. The location numbers of the caps are c330, c350, and c370. If you have any experience working on electronics, I would start by changing these caps. They are very inexpensive. If you would rather just change the inverter board, try shopjimmy.com. That is a good place to buy boards for flat screen tvs.

On my 32' TV, they are the 6 black squares lined up in the fornt of the picture. This goes to an Emerson 32' LCD TV.

that connection is the "S - VIDEO" connection which will over ride the yellow video input if used

I looked up the specs for your TV. It says nothing about a digital tuner at all. I believe you must get a box from your cable provider. I'm sure that they want to keep you around, so they should give you a cable box for free.

Google bad or blown capacitors image and you will see what you need to look for on the boards primary bad caps are on the power board where the power comes into the computer. inverter board can also be issue but rare.

By chance does it use the same type of cord as a computer or monitor? These cords can be found at local Radio Shacks, or if you live near a business which has a number of computers, and upgrades machines regularly, they might have extra cords lying around in their closet.

Otherwise, take a pic of the connection on the TV, take it to Radio Shack, and make a match there.

You could look in the TV's documentation- maybe get help there too.
