To graph this equation, we see that it is in the slope/intercept form of y=mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

d(t)= -2t+18

Start with the y-intercept of 18 (0,18)

From this point, we can start graphing the line by using the slope of -2. Since the slope is negative, it goes up to the left. So we go one to the left, and up two.

Good luck.

The equation of the straight line PQ is 3-2kx+k+1=12,calculate,in each case,the numerical value of k if the line PQ is parrallel to the line y=4x+7;is perpendicular to the line y=4x+7;

that sounds like a problem about "slopes" so I am looking at using the derivative, which is basically the slope of the graph.
- the equation of line PQ can be simplified to y(x) = -2kx + k -8
- derivative relative to X (k is a constant) gives you -2k
- derivative of y(x) = 4x + 7 relative to x gives you 4

if the lines are parallel then the slopes are equal:
-2k=4 gives you k = -2 => your function becomes y = 4x - 8

if the lines are perpendicular the two slopes multiplied together give you -1:
-2k * 4 = -1 gives you k=1/8 => function becomes y = -1/4x - 7/8 or in other words y = -(2x+7)/8

I have made graphic representation and it looks to be correct.
I hope it makes sense.

Let f(x)=7x 2 ?4x+8 and g(x)=?6+4x?7x 2 . What is f(x)+g(x) ?

f(x) + g(x) would just be the two functions added together.

f(x) + g(x) = 7x 2?4x+8 + (?6+4x?7x 2)

Sorry, I don't understand your initial functions.

Good luck.

I want to know how to graph equations on the TI-84 calculator

You must cast the functions in the so-called functional form y=ax+b. Isolate y for both functions, then open the Y= function editor and type in the second member (right member) of y=ax+b.
You can enter both functions and have them graphed on the same screen. In that case one will be on the Y1= line, the other on the second line.
Make sure that both = signs in the Y= editor are highlighted if you want both functions on the same graph.

So on my graphing calculator i put my equation x^3-x^2-10x-8. then i hit graph and it says err:invalid DIM.

INVALID DIM error message may occur if you are trying to graph a function that does not involve the stat plot features. The error can be corrected by turning off the stat plots. To turn the stat plots off, press 2nd then stat plot, and then select 4:PlotsOff. By the way it is easy to graphing function y=x^3-x^2-10x-8.

How do you solve equations like 4x+5y=12

You cannot solve this equation,at least not in the regular meaning of solving which is to find the roots. This is a relation linking two variables x and y, in other words a function. There are an infinite number of orderd pairs tha satisfy this equation.
You can draw it as y=1/5(-4x 12) but your calculator cannot graph.
If you want to use the Solve( command on this calculator you must supply the value of y.

I need to generate a graph (graphing trignometric equation in parametric form). The equations are, x=3cos(teta) y=2sin(2teta) We are getting error while generating

At first, you have to use t symbol for parametric functions when you operating with TI 89 Titanium. In your case you must input your relations as x1=3cos(t) and y1=2sin(2t). Then graphing it. See captured image
