Question about JVC GR-DVL120 Mini DV Camcorder

1 Answer

JVC GR-DVL120 Playback

I have a mini DV tape that I recorded but in play back I only see blue on the screen. I have in the past viewed the tape so I know the video exist. I then took a new tape and recorded with the same result in playback. If I put in on "A" or "M" to record the LCD shows that I'm recording and you can see the images on the LCD but then in playback it plays in blue and with no sound almost as if I was playing back a blank tape.

Any Ideas?

Daniel

It fixed it. You have just saved Christmas my friend. I called a repair place and they told me they could not get to it until Jan of 08! You're AWESOME!!!!

I have the same problem with the playback of a recording appearing with a blue screen, and I have used the tape before, as well.

I have just now cleaned the heads twice now, and it is still doing the same thing!

    What do I do now?

EXACTLY the same problem...played first tape fine, next tape, blue screen, no timecode. Won't play any other tape now.

JVC mini Dv GR-D720E has small squares on playback

Indeed it seems that there was a really stubborn bit of dirt on the heads. I had to use the cleaning tape several times to ultimately have a clear picture on record and playback.
thanks again ,but successive cleaning can help for an effective cleaning of the tape path and heads.

Cannot record due to a black screen

OK, that means you can see clear picture in playback of old recorded tapes and camcorder just wont give you live view to record any more.
If its true then it is known problem/ failure of ccd imager in your JVC GR-D33 camcorder.
JVC will repair it free of cost, click JVC CCD Imager Advisory for details.
Thanks.

Does this cam, play the mini dv tapes????

If you are referring to the JVC GR-DVL520, yes it does play Mini DV tapes, as well as records to them. It will not play Mini DV tapes that were recorded on an HDV camera. HDV is used by any Mini DV camera that records HD video.

No playback on JVC GR-D72

It souunds like the problem is in the Vid-PC connection. I suggest you start by downloading the latest version of whatever software you have used to capture and view.

Also - uninstall any hardware in the PC that is used to capture (just remove from system device list) and then restart the PC and let it detect and re-install.

If you don't know how to do these steps, then you'll need geek help.

GR-D72 Mini DV Digital Camcorder makes clicking sound when tape running

the clicking is from the capstain turning the tape -- and perhaps the metal cage holding the tape.. if it is bent then the movement of the capstain may be pushing it in an eccentric fashion.

send it in for repair.

Jvc gr-dv500u

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)
