TOMTOM kept on losing signal... now lost for ever..!!!!!!! my tomtom lost the signal for ever... after two years.... also the battery is dead......... cannot charge at all.............. what is tomtom doing???????????

Your battery is faulty, probably caused by the non tomtom charger.
Ring tomtom on 08451610009 as the unit is 6 months old and they will repair it free of charge. DON'T tell them about the other charger.
White lined screen is a battery problem

Try connecting it to the computer and running an update from TomTom Home, there is a GPS fix that might help. Obviously the TomTom needs clearence to see the satalites in the sky otherwise try a hard reset with a pen in the bottom.

My tomtom one screen kept showing that it was waiting for a valid gps signal all day yesterday 7/1/09 what can I do to fix this problem?

Electrical or magnetic interference.. tall trees or buildings and overhead high voltage will all cause these experiences.

the battery is so just change it and all should be well again for a week or so! i am being facetious as TOMTOM are not good products as you can determine by the number on here needing reapir or help for much of the same problems

This is not always an easy fix.
one has to know whether you are trying to run a GPS in a city that is overshadowed with trall buildings, a forrest like set of streets where trees overhang and obscure the sky.
Then there is the low battery level that can cause loss or no signal, or the windscreen that is so sloped it does not allow sky view.
Some cars have other electronics installed that cause interference, finally the GPS itself.. TOMTOM, one of the worst GPS on the market for failoure. and problems. Just trawl through FIXYA and see the number of TOMTOM requests for help there are to any other brand

here are some solutions.

make sure battery is fully charged on AC charger before usinjg. connect it to DC car power after engin hjass been started to prevent spike damage to chip.

fit an external mouse antenna, not the cheap and nasty types thyat only raise 28 decibels
contact Marbella Australia for their 50Decibel antenna its the best on the market and only available from them . .
place Gps closer to your windscreen for a better view of the sky.
keep away from other electronics like mobile phone radio etc to see if it works better.
