You need a new heating element. Here's the link to kitchin Aid customer service. You will need the model & serial numbers to get the right part. Also, you will have to detail which element is out, such as looking at the handle it's the second from the left or whichever it is. Each one has a specific part number and they are not interchangeable.

The kitchen aid brand is usually a good one,
i prefer you too replace the toasting elements because in my brand i faced the same problem and i replaced the toasting element . it worked wonders for me
