There should be an attachment that connects to the air intake that covers the fan turbine preventing any injuries occurring from contact with the blades it also will prevent the motor from turning on if its not installed properly. Then the outlet tube needs to be connected thus converting it into a blower. You mentioned that you purchased it used so it may not have come with these items.

I have an older b and d leaf blower , i need to find out what makes the proplellar turn a different way , to go from vacuum to leaf blower ? tks it a b and d bv 2500 type 3

If your blower is not manufactured to be convertible you won't be able to make it into a vacuum. The turbine will not withstand the force of the debris entering it and will be destroyed quickly and could even come apart forcefully injuring you and others around you.
Now if it is designed for vacuuming, the air intake will have a cover that can be opened and allow for the vacuum tube attachment to be connected there. The turbines on these types of blowers are made of materials that can withstand the debris that will be flowing through it and some even have a metal blade that grinds the debris before it enters the turbine then the debris will flow through the outlet tube where the air flows through that blows the leaves and into a bag or filter top that connects to a trash can. Now if this is something that you just have to do and the blower you have isn't a vacuum it can be done but use EXTREME caution. And some pretty major modifications will have to be done to the frame and body of the blower. Some blowers have safety switch's that will prevent the motor or engine from running if any modification is made or if debris is entering the turbine so be prepared for these. I recommend not doing this.

I have a Black and Decker BV1000 Type 5. It is quite old but and I bought it from a guy. Question: how do you change this thing from Vacuum to blowing?

If you got it without the box and it is set up only as a blower then you are missing two parts. The bag attachment which attaches where your blower tube is now and the input nozzle which is like the blower tube you now have only larger. It goes on the air intake, where the orange cover is now. Grab a manual online although I doubt it would be cost effective to try and buy the missing parts.

Is there a collection bag that will work with a Craftsman electric blower/vac. A bag that fits over a trash can with an 8' hose similar to the Black and Decker bv-006

I have not heard of one for that unit. Plus I would not use it for vacuuming any way. All you need is for an acorn or piece of wood to hit the impeller.
It would break a couple of fins off the impeller. This would make the blower vibrate like crazy and you will not want to hold on to it. Plus the cost of repairs would exceed the cost of a new one.
Good Day.

Craftsman leaf blower/vacuum

There is a round grille on the bottom of the unit. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the latch to release it and reveal the vacuum opening. You should have a two-piece intake pipe that will attach to the opening.

The collection bag attaches to the smaller outlet where the blower pipe used to be (unscrew the wing nut to release the blower pipe). The bag clips onto the hooks at the base of the opening.

Vacuum or Blower?

* Blowers perform the single, simple function of blowing material. * Blower/vacuum combinations combine the blower function with a vacuum feature. Leaves or debris can be directed into an attached bag, which makes this type of unit great for vacuuming leaves from shrubs. An additional mulching feature is available on some leaf blower/vacuums. Mulched lawn debris can be used in compost piles or bagged for disposal. Most convert easily from blowing to vacuuming mode.
