If the DVD player is also a recorder it should record the sound from any source once it is selected. But a "player" by it's definition cannot record anything.

I have Aiwa CX-NA508. Tape player 1 just ate my cassette and the 2nd tape player doesn't play at all.. Is the 2nd player supposed to play back cassette tapes or is it just for dubbing tapes?

Both players should play a tape. In fact the player can be set up so when tape player 1 finishes the tape, player 2 will kick on to play the other tape by itself. Only one is the recorder to dub another tape or record CD to tape.

Aiwa AD F660 cassette deck. Having changed the drive belts, the eject button does not now work. Hook holding the cassette door shut does not drop enough to release. How can I fix this? Thanks, Brian

Have you trapped wire or something near the hook mechanism stopping it from getting full travel when the button's pressed?

The nice people at HiFiengine have a service manual for the deck, free you just need to join.

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT TWIN CASSETTE DECK AIWA AD-WX727 ON EBAY AND TRYING TO WORK IT. BOTH CASSETTE PLAYERS ARE WORKING O.K BUT WILL NOT RECORD CAN YOU HELP. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE MANUAL BUT NO JOY.

It is often a bad idea to buy dual cassette type decks. They never work very well except for one unit I have seen which was the Sony ES model. It was not cheap at $1200 a unit. You might get it to work but the performance of these is poor even when new. Avoid dual cassette deck at all costs.

I have an Aiwa Surround Sound Theatre system Model #cx-nmt720. Has a 3 disc player, am/fm, and 2 cassette decks (one on right allows recording/dubbing) Everything works great except cassette...

The unit may be damaged or may just need adjustment- only a tape deck technician will be able to answer the question after seeing the unit. To answer it remotely like this, is really an impossible task.

I have a nsx-9000 cassette deck will not play.

Make a note of how the belt fits, then remove it and measure the diameter. Then buy a replacement, belts do go bad from time to time, so a new one might cure the problem. Put the diameter size (to the nearest mm result, IE: 50 or 55mm, not 52mm! Into google and "cassette belt" and you should find one for the job.

How do I record from one tape deck to the other?

Put your "blank" in the deck with the record button, normally red button and press rec/play and pause at the same time, put your "origional" in the other deck and press play and pause at the same time, then un-pause both at the same time. Make sure that the hifi is set to tape as if you record tape to tape when listening to radio foe example, you will get a strange "mix tape" of your origional and the radio.
