How old is your hoover washing machine?

The filter is in the agitator. Remove the agitator cap, and you will find it down there. The filter is pretty much useless. Even though you might get some lint in the filter, if it wasn't there the lint would go down the drain. This machine has a neutral drain feature where the lint gets pumped out with the rinse water before the bowl turns, so preventing the lint from being stirred up nd put through the clothes. You can fix one of two ways.
1/ replace the cold water solenoid valve
This is located directly behind the cold water hose fitting
at the top of the machine
Remove the small electrical control panel by removing the
three small screws.

2/ If you only need the cold wash program you can save
money by swapping the vaves around. They are easy to
remove and they are held in place by a plastic insert which
lifts up to remove them .

Make absolutely sure that your Machine is disconnected from the mains supply before you replace these valves
