Finepix 1300 just quits, will not power up with new batteries

It worked fine, took a picture, then went dead on me. Change batteries then tried to power up with no results. Used 3 different batteries set with same result.....Is this built-in obsolescence ?

MIne's doing the same thing. I've had this problem on and off ever since I bought the camera.

I think they had a defective control chip from the factory and there's no excuse for them to have released these cameras for sale with this problem.

The problem evidently stems from the stupid way they power up the camera. The switch is basically a momentary switch that turns the camera either on or off and the chip then recognizes what the operator intent is by changing whatever state the camera happens to be in (if it's of then it turns it on and vice-versa).

The chip will also turn the camera off if it hasn't been operated after a set time and theis is also the reason that the camera will run down the baterries if it hasn't been operated...there is always a slight drain on the batteries even if it's turned off.

So to answer your question, this isn't built-in obsolescence, it's defective design.

I will never own another Fugi product.

My acer aspire 7736G was working fine, it's about 2.5 years old, and is used mainly with the power cord plugged in. When using it the other day the computer just went dead on me. I took the batter

You have reached the end life of the battery pack. The battery must have some minimum charge to have computer function even with the AC power pack connected. So I suggest you replace the battery pack as a solution. Any local Radio Shack store can test this battery I am told free of charge.

Even with new batteries and they go dead before I take 3 pictures

Yes, there is definitely a fault with your camera.  You should be able to return it for a replacement.  I wouldn't experiment too much with batteries in this camera. batteries discharging this quickly are likely to overheat, causing unmentionable catastrophe.

Won't turn on.

Fixed my "dead" Sansa by opening the back, removing the battery then putting it back in. This appears to have rebooted the system and now it's working fine. No files were lost.

(I did try holding down the on/off button prior to this but got no response at all.)

FujiFilm FinePix A500 screen turns off when trying to take a picture

I had the same problem with a fujifilm finepix... It didn't take pictures with 2 sony batteries, just turned off after pressing the shutter. Then I tried 2 panasonic batteries and it worked fine....

My solution: try panasonic rechargeable.

Fuji Finepix F31fd - Write error; then power problem

As it was a write error, it could be that your card is corrupted. What you could do is to backup all of the images from the card to your computer, then re-format the card in the camera, so at least all your images are safe. Then, if the problem occurs again, contact Fuji.
