SOURCE: I have placed a high

Most DVD player Unknown Disk / No disk errors are the result of 1 of 3 things. As you obviously suspected, a dirty laser lens is one. The wrong kind of disk is another (DVDRW often is not recognized). And the other is a dead or dying drive motor. Very rarely can the motor be fixed because it is usually an integral part of a larger assembly and is difficult to access and nearly impossible to replace as a single discreet component. I'm afraid you are likely going to have to replace the unit as it is probably not economically feasible to repair it. Sorry about the bad news but it is a very common failure. I know this isn't very helpful so feel free to repost the question for another user, maybe someone else will have better news. Good luck. Joe.

Not all DVDs are from the same places and they are not compatible with your DVD drivers. You need make them region-free and then playback of the DVDs would be ok. Try DVDAid, I have used this for almost a year, works great.

Cant play back recordings from my LG DR275 on any other device

I was asking the same question for the LG DR389 , but couldn't find any help . With time on hand I explored the remote control .
Try HOME , scroll down to a disk , go right and I got FINALISE ,
click and it activates . I can now play my DVD on any player or my PC . Good Luck !

I have got an lg dv-275 dvd recorder, when i bought it was ewerithing ok, but now cant play nothing, do you know what is the problem? thx

Try getting a laser lens cleaner, you are supposed to clean your lens every 10 hours of use, also, listen to see if you hear the motor spinning when you insert a disk, if you can't, well, you know.

Remote universal

I wish someone would bring a suit against any of these manufacturers using the term 'universal.'
At best, they are 'multibrand' and, with the proliferation of 'brands,' there never will be one that can rightfully claim to be 'universal.'
There may never be a code for your brand available in every remote.

You might try the website of the remote's manufacturer (if known), they may have a later code list but that doesn't ensure that your DVD player's included in the remote itself.

LG DR4912 - Optical drive motor bouncing of the end stop.

Mine was doing the same.last night i opened up the machine & took out the cd drive and opened it up.I cleaned the laser with a cotton swab and manually pushed the laser back to the front of the unit as far as it could slide on the 2 little posts it slides along.

Dvd burner malfunction

Have you tried a lens-cleaning disk? Data on DVDs is much more closely packed and so the weaker signal prehaps more likely to be lost to a dusty lens.

Your player has to be able to play divx formats. Not all players come with that option.
