FYI,I can only give you troubleshoot steps. I'm going to give you the simple one to start with and the more advance step will be on the bottom.

================

Get a new rim of paper.

Check the package on the side.

One better paper,they have an arrow the point to print surface and a rough surface (for the roller to pull in the paper)

Fill the tray so the print side will face away from the pick up roller.

=================

The pick up roller can dry up. Check the condition of the rollers.

=================

There are two springs that are near the tension pressure rollers. They can also be the trouble maker.

=================

Open the unit and vacuum out the entire unit. There are few optical sensor that detect where the paper is located or jammed.

CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and clean some more!

=================

This unit can be dated back to 2004. It can use a PM.
Get some light lube and pass a little by all the gears and bearings,

=================

=================

Compare the former jam location and see is it going closer to the fuser roller.

Also check and make sure the fuser roller is clean and does get hot.

===================.

Do test print and let me know where it's jam at.

Good luck.

Hi,

Here is the solution for your problem,

Solution 1:

There is a clutch on the feeder behind a black plastic cover on the side that faces the rear of teh printerthat sometimes will slip of not turn at all. Alot of times removing the clutch cleaning it and applying a thin coat of lithium grease will have it working again.

SOLUTION 2:

Do all the cleaning and adjusting procedures. Remove any stock from the multi-media tray and closed that door. always leave it open with media loaded. u shouldnt have had no jams from the main tray. I've only printed 15-20 pages, and nothing bigger than a 4 page document, but it's still better than I had been getting! If this continues, and I will soon have to print a large report, the problem may have had a very simple solution!

Note:

The photos with the illustration is given in the below link may help you better...

    Before replacing the small black clutch....although it could use lubed. People with less skill can spray lube it. ANYWAY. On that clutch shaft under the paper path plate ( the plate that has the several black ribs on it) are two cams . THESE SHOULD BE REGREASED. With white lithium grease or the like. That WILL help your old clutch and help a new clutch that still sometimes causes a error 33. And stop blaming the transfer kit. Thats not the problem.

Have you checked everywhere for paper jammed in the machine? Possibly a sensor is out of place but I think that you still have paper jammed somewhere if you still get this error after replacing the transfer kit. Unplug it, give it a small shake (upside down too), and then tear it apart looking for any small object that may be jammed in it. Let me know how this turns out.

    Possibly then you have a broken sensor that senses a paper jam or you have dirty contacts on the transfer kit that can be cleaned with a soft clean cloth. You should also try unplugging the unit for a minute and seeing if that resets the error. Even if you have tried any of the above already, please try them again.

THE FUSER IS BLOCKED OR NEEDS REPLACING,
----There is a clutch on the feeder behind a black plastic cover on the side that faces the rear of teh printerthat sometimes will slip of not turn at all. Alot of times removing the clutch cleaning it and applying a thin coat of lithium grease will have it working again.
All descriptions of parts and placement are the same. As you are looking at the transfer kit from the back of the printer, the clutch in question is on the far left with a 3/4" tab protruding from it. Take it apart, clean and grease it and it works great.
Being ever so grateful for a free and quick fix, I posted some pictures identifying the part in question:
The photos provided gave me the confidence to fix my Phaser 740 plus and that was 3 months ago. I printed lots with no more jamming.

hi,
the paper jamming problem is generic to most printer models of this capability. one way to circumvent this is to use a multimedia-tray while printing.

the reason is probably the two springs that hold down a silver metal pressure roller in the feeding unit. The tension is uneven due to old springs and the paper pulls crooked. If you follow the paper path in the fedder mechanism, you will see the roller I am referring to. The springs are at either end of this bar.
If you are good mechanically, you can replace the springs yourself, although they are a ***** to get back on (some disassembly required).
try this for details on doing it.

Phaser 740 Printing Cyan only

The problem is usually caused by a faulty imaging device, specifically a bad cleaning blade.
Occasionally this error can also be caused by a sticking cleaning blade clutch.

In this case the grease that was used to lubricate the part becomes gummed up and the moving parts begin to stick and don't move freely as they are supposed to. This is especially common on these printers if they are not used heavily or have sat for long periods between uses.

Sometimes you can free up this gummed up grease by running the solenoid diagnostics several times over. You do this by turning off the printer and then powering up while holding buttons 1 and 3 on the front panel display. Button 1 is the exit button.

This will put your printer into service diagnostics mode. Page through the diagnostics menus until you come to the clutches and solenoids menu. Here you need to hit the start button, then scroll through till you see the test for the cleaning blade. Press start to run the test.

Let this test run for about an hour then hit the stop button and turn off and restart your printer.
If your printer is printing normally again then the sticky clutch is your problem and you will eventually need to remove it and clean off the old grease and relube it. I recommend a high quality lithium grease.

If your printer does not print correctly again after doing this test, then chances are that your cleaning blade on your imaging unit is bad and the imaging unit will need to be replaced. You can generally find them on ebay for a reasonable price.

This problem applies to both the phaser 560 and 740 models. The imaging units on both these printers are also interchangeable. So if you have a phaser 560 you can use an imaging device from a 740 and vice versa.
