This TV and is 7 years old, initially the picture flashed on and off while the audio stayed on continuously. If I unplugged the power and let the tv sit for a few minutes the picture would stay on as normal for about 2 to 5 minutes. Over the past few months the picture flashes on and off every 2 seconds.
I am not sure if it is a service problem if it would be economical to repair. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Tap around on the circuit boards in the rear of the television. narrowed it down to the Comb Filter circuit board. It is the smallest upright circuit board behind where you plug in all your connectors. pulled it out cleaned it off, reinserted it

Hey Shannonbmomt I had the same problem with my KP-53HS10 and I had to replace the High Voltage Transistor IRFI640LFcost me about $20usd with shipping from

I also found that I had a bad flyback transformer which from what I have read online is also a common problem if the high voltage transistor goes out. So I replaced the flyback as well for another $18 from electronix.com part SONY FLYBACK 1-453-285-11
Soldered both pieces in and tv is good as new

I had to replace the flyback transformer and the HV Transistor on the D board, cost $38usd total and good as new.
