Password I bought a used car that came with this model. Our battery died and now the unit is asking for a 4 number password. We got the model used and don't have a manual. How do I reset this?

I don't know how you are getting this problem, what you see is a "power on" password. This normally occurs after a bios battery is replaced and is a security measure. I can only assume the Bios battery died on you and lost the settings.

You have a couple of options: Contact toshiba and ask them for a bios master password. You may also need one for the hard drive access as well. They will ask for proof of ownership.

You will not find any back door passwords. Even if you were to use Dogberts pass hacker (google dogberts reverse engineering), the hard drive would still probably be locked and you'd need to replace this, as if it is locked, it cannot be reformatted.

The last choice is a bit "touch and go" It may work.. it may not. I've used this on a similar laptop and it worked for me, however, this is at your own risk. At 4 years old I'd be getting a new cmos battery before doing this.

Power unit off. Disconnect AC power. Remove battery. Remove the memory cover screw, memory cover and the memory modules. Peel back the plastic sheet from JOPEN1 solder pad. Short JOPEN1 solder pads for 30 seconds. Replace plastic sheet. Replace memory modules. Replace battery. Power up unit. Replace covers if it works.

This video explains it a bit better

The password/code can only be retrieved from service center or from the dealer of the unit. Because at the back of the unit there is a serial number mentioned and the password/code only can be retrieved from the serial number. Each and every device/unit has its own serial number so one serial number code/password will not work with other serial number code password. The service center or the dealer has the list of code for the serial number so as soon as you provide the serial number he will get the password/code
Retrieved  for you through the list.
Thanks. keep updated for any more can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

In-car electronics commonly use this sort of password/code protection, to make it more difficult to use or sell a unit that has been stolen from a car. It is triggered when the unit is disconnected from the battery (or, in your case, when the battery goes flat/dead).

According to the Owner's Manual, this system has a user-defined password, and the security is not enabled by default. If you didn't set a password, perhaps the installer did it for you. Check your install receipts/records, or have them check their records.

If you bought the car second-hand, with the unit preinstalled, you may be out of luck unless you can get the code from the previous owner. Since the password isn't pre-defined, the manufacturer really has no way to help you with this. Your only other option is to try the 10,000 possible 4-digit codes until you find the right one.

I do not have the password for my DVD password

During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

Kenwood DDX 7017 bypass code

During code request mode:
Point the remote control to the screen and input this numbers (from the remote control) as faster as you can 55222277
You will not see any change on the screen until you enter the last number.
This will clear the code
If you make a mistake, just reset the unit and start from the top.

when you are asked to enter the password press 'select' and then insert '7444' and you will be asked to enter the new password just enter any 4 digit number. If you want to clear the password completely then, during the film press 'select', 'setup', 'parental control' (tab) and there turn it of.
