Region codes I've tried all the different codes that everyone suggests and they aren't working. On the "lock" menu it has 2 letters for the codes and I'm on region 2 which is saying is GB. I've got a region 1 dvd I want to watch so I need to unlock the dvd player. Please help!

I have the 5083 dvd player, but it only seems to play region 2 dvds. I've tried going through the menus, but it asks for a country code. The codes are two letters A-Z. I'm assuming that there's...

The Country Code is just related to the Subtitles etc and nothing to do with the Region.
Most DVD Players/Recorders are set to Play the Region of DVD from the Country they were purchased from. Only some are Region Free (will play DVDs from any Country) when purchased.

Some DVD Players/Recorders can be changed to Region Free by simply entering a code on the Remotes handset or by following instructions to enter a Service Menu and change it their.

Unfortunately yours can only be changed by updating the Firwmare which is a risky and difficult process even if you know what you're doing. I wouldn't advise anyone to try it without previous experience as you could render your DVD Player/Recorder useless.

Region unlock a Sony DVP-SR500H

Ok here's what I've figured out for Sony dvp sr500h...

To get to the hidden menu, you need to start with the DVD player power OFF
then hit
TOP MENU
CLEAR
POWER (to turn the dvd player on)

and you should now see the hidden menu

then go to option 2
then option 4

then this is as far as I get...you can enter codes here but none I've tried have worked....

the ones I've tried so far are 2812, 34570, and 12450

if anyone can figure out the correct code please post here.

How to unlock DVD bue ray player LG BD550 to be region / zone free ?

Try this
1. Go to Menu
2. Press Set Up Button.
3. Scroll down to Lock Highlight & Press.
4. Scroll down to Area Code.
5. Enter 0000 and again 0000 press the pause button.
6. Press Enter.
7. Change the Region Code to any Country you require.EG uk Would Be GB america would be US
8. Exit

It's along those lines! If you haven't a password yet, hit any 4 digits you want as a password. Yes, you can just punch that in, but I find if you want to take your time about it, steps 5 and 6 work by bypassing the password.

Now if you download the full American manual & go to page 79 - there's a lift of 2 letter combination and the countries associated with them.

DVDV809-04

You need to convert your machine to an all-region player. The following hack works for Diamond Vision models 803 and 807 - there's a good chance it will work for the 809 provided they've used the same firmware for this model.

The region-free hack works as follows:

1.) Turn on the power and wait until the 'NO DISC' message appears, then press OPEN/CLOSE on the unit itself to open the door of the DVD player

2.) On the remote control, press SETUP. A menu will appear onscreen.

3.) Enter the following number sequence via remote: 1 3 8 9

4.) A different menu will appear. Your cursor should now be sitting in a box with the current region displayed. Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys on the remote control to display a specific region's numerical code, or select '0' (this is the number zero - not the letter o ... this is the region-free setting).

5.) Press ENTER and then SETUP to exit.

6.) Your DVD player will now play DVDs from all other regions. The code only has to be entered once. Powering down will not cause the Diamond Vision to lose its region-free setting. An added plus: it automatically senses PAL/NTSC signals but it will output to an NTSC tv set.
