When i turn on my Archos 704 it just hangs on with the Archos on the screen. The HD light is flashing but goes no further. I have tried connecting up to my PC to update the firmware but it does the same thing. Has anyone had this before if so how did you get it working.
Hi..ok this is the way and fast and easy to solve your problem.make a safe mode then if their at the safe go to add and remove programs then remove the installer/driver of wire less or go to my computer right click then properties then hardware,device manager,then click,find the network adapter then uninstall.after that reboot the unit.if u see this messages (Found new hardware device) then insert CD installer..Thanks and Good Luck...^_^..Have a nice day

First, start with the easy stuff - remove the battery and press the reset button - hold down for about 10 seconds. replace the battery, attach your AC adapter and attempt to start the player. If it still won't start, you may have a damaged DC-In connector OR the charge circuit may be bad - a TI Chip on your main board sometimes goes bad - it can be replaced. Also, if the battery is absolutely dead - no charge left at all, the player will not start even with an AC adapter
A couple of procedures you can try: 1. Do a soft reset. Press on the power button for about 15 seconds; 2. Do a full/hard reset by removing the batteries and pressing the master reset button; 3.
Do a Systems Recovery by powering on and immediately press/hold the TV
button till Recovery Mode is displayed. Follow on screen instruction of
Forcing Touch Screen Calibration. You may need also to format the
internal HD but that would mean you loose whatever data is inside.

The video plugin you bought is so that you may watch Videos by transferring them from your computer. But what you are trying to do cannot be done because your archos browser does not come with flash so you cannot view videos in a website. Unfortunately it just cannot be done. I also have a 704 and was very disapointed to learn that I cannot watch videos from websites.
