My Sony KDS-60A3000 has worked great since we purchased it new in 2008. The only maintenance we've done is change the original XL-5200 bulb and housing with an OEM replacement once. Recently, after twenty minutes or so running fine, it turns off and the power LED continuously blinks three times. We turn the TV back on, all is well again for 20-60 minutes, and it turns off again repeats the three blinks. Does this mean the bulb needs to be replaced again? The picture is still great, as is the brightness. I want to confirm before spending $100 on a new lamp. Also, I've researched everywhere online, but haven't found an answer for this question; other answers referred to the Lamp LED blinking, not the Power LED blinking three times--which is what mine is doing.
3 blinks of Standby/power LED of Sony sets denotes a SMPS board [G-board] failure. . Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
