This has some common codes. If they don't work, the dealer will give you the code FOC based on the VIN Number. Also note that many Japanese stereo units in imported cars are made only for the home market and only show Japanese text, with no way to change to English.

This deck uses a unique security code that is created when activated and can't be reset or otherwise determined. Take it back and get your money back, as it is probably stolen. The PIN cannot be broken as it is set by the original user and cannot be reset by a third party. Even Garmin will not reset it without the original receipt from a Garmin dealer.

A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods
There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.

Can't help. Unit is most likely stolen or the REAL owner frgot the code. Have a receipt? Call Kewood and ship it to them to restore functionality. ONLY the manufacturer cn reset the units. (Unless you know the guy you bought it from and HE has the code.

Try holding the volume up volume down buttons at the same time for a 15 seconds. if that dont work try the channel buttons the same way. it may be in the demo mode.

Don't buy kenwood it's the crappies stereo equipment out there.

Once the code is in there you cant"clear" the code. Im told its a secret on how they change the code but a little birdy told me you have to change the small 8 pin eeprom to setup code back to all 0000's Your gonna need a manual unless your local Kenwood servicer will assist you.
