Robinair Cool-Tech 34700z sending refrigerant to oil recovery container when charging system.

I just picked up a Robinair Cool-Tech 34700z and was told by the previous owner that it was sending refrigerant into the oil recovery container occasionally when trying to charge a vehicle with refrigerant and he was pretty sure a solenoid was sticking. After looking at a diagram I suspect a bad recycling solenoid or recovery solenoid but would like to know how I can confirm which solenoid may be the problem. Thank you.

AC machine Model 34988 won't clear hoses and stays on clearing hoses but doesn't complete the operation. Representative came and gave diagnosis of replace oil return solenoid part number RA20010 and from the wright up it looks like he replaced it. I know its 13 of those solenoids on the manifold but need to know which one is the oil return solenoid and will there be any pressure in the system when I try and removed the solenoid and replace it? Previous owner said something about a motherboard also.

Problem with oil drain solenoid. Open oil drain solenoid valve (not solenoid coil) and clean it with a clean cloth and replace it same place. Apply charge and check. If still same problem exists then you need to replace complete oil drain solenoid.

You confirm it by how it functions, if it sticks in a mechanical way there is no electrical testing that would be valid. I would just replace both solenoids.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the response. Are you familiar with what needs to be done to prepare for removing the solenoids for replacement?"

Robinair 34700z will only fill 1/2 of recommended refrigerant

Try running the compressor for a while, then see if you can get more into the system on the low side, not the high side while it is running, until the sight glass on receiver dryer clears from being milky.

Robinair 34788 will not charge properly

I would be very careful releasing refrigerant from the liquid side of the tank as suggested earlier. Knowingly releasing R134 into the atmosphere carries very large fines if you get caught and is very environmentally irresponsible.
