Have a very old sony dvd recorder rdr-hx720 will not play or eject disc, showing error code C3 1:00

Finalizing is Necessary When Playing On Any Equipment Other Than This Recorder.Even IF Your Other DVD Equipment IS ( VR ) Format Compatible You Still Need To Finalize The Disk. After Finalizing,You Cannot Edit or Record on The Disk,Make Sure It's In Video Mode.

Recording tv program or duffing none codes dvd disc,must wait it for finalizing code done completely before can take it out or can be watching it on the same DVD recoder player or a compatible one.Record other disc,just must wait the disc to completely finalizing it final codes,the disc should play with no problems.

can you hear the motor running inside the player ????
there is usualy a snall pin hole under the tray insert a paper clip into this hile and push it in if tray starts to auto open it might be just a dry set of rails
if rails asumed dry open unit and coat the rails with anti seize and try again with the switch on front cover

The laser readerwriter is most likely burned out, it is the most common failure. The option of repair is not really feasible as the cost of new is really low.

Computer Burned discs are a grey area for some players[different firmware/chipsets] There is a list on the web of players and what they will play a Google/Yahoo will reveal. Also checkout the manual that came with the player.
