I think I need to replace the print wheel. Is this something I can do myself? Where do I find directions?
The print wheel is apparently out of alignment and is very loose in the holder. Is this normal, how do I align it correctly to print the correct letter when the key is pressed?

I really thought that there would be instructions in the box..I really don't think that I should buy something than have to go out of my way to get a handy man to put it together. I am capable of doing that myself if I had the instructions. I also don't feel that I need to call someone to get the instructions...looks like it might be a problem for everyone...I don't mind looking them up on line and print them but other than that not interested...guess it will just have to go back to bed bath and beyond...
I'm going to agree with the rack conclusion. Keep in mind I can't see it for myself. If you take the load off the front wheels, you should be able to turn the steering wheel without effort. If the effort changes while turning the wheel, the only things affected would be the rack and the column. If you notice it turns ok with the engine off but not with the engine running, it could be something with the pump or one of the lines, or still something with the rack.
LP2824 is a direct termical printer, does not use ink of any kind, it means that it requires a special paper for it to print, printhead burns the special paper in specific areas to show the pattern, if you are sure that you are using that special paper and it keeps not printing, is very posible that the printhead need to be clean up or replaced.
if both wheels are off the ground then you should be ok to remove front wheel, when you take the spindle out and remove wheel from between forks put the spindle back through both forks and use a axel stand or something to prop under the spindle just to be safe so it wont tip forwards.
I don't have a technical manual for this unit, but I have worked on these before. They are fairly easy to dismantle, take care to apply even pressure when removing the jog wheel, use something like a butter knife (2 off) to slide under opposing sides of the wheel and gently prise up. Spare parts for this unit are available directly from Numark, however you can source them from elsewhere. you'll probably need to replace the transducer.
