Boiler not running smoothly

Boiler fires and runs fine for 5-10 mins, then alternately cuts out and relights interminally until I switch it off. Will do the same after approx to 10 mins. The heat sensor has been replaced, a smoke test conducted and passed and the pump is working fine. I am now at a loss at what the problem could be. This is a Baxi Bermuda gas fired central heating back boiler with electronic ignition...any ideas?

sorry that was for oil --check the gas valve screen/filter for debris also valve internal pressure regulator spring may be failing ---check the thermocouple for carbon build up and in proper position or possible failing --last would be moisture in gas feed

Hi John...is there any reason that would make the boiler run too hot aside from the heat sensor not working? I have had a new heat sensor fitted, yet the problem still remained. Today I had a new PCB board installed and still the problem remains. The rads and water heat very quickly and normally the boiler would shut off until the heat went below the room stat..but it doesn't. Hopefully these description will assist in an answer
    Sincere regards
    Cassie

Has this being sitting since last season?
Regardless what stabilizer you put in ETC if so try this.
Remove the old gas and put fresh gas, 91 octance just buy 1/2 gallon will act has a carb cleaner.
Also, pick up a can of engine starting spray.

Remove the air filter and spray the engine starting spray into the air intake. start the engine and give it additional squirts of engine starting spray until it runs smoothly.

In my experience thermocouple either work or they do not.when a water heater runs for a length of time before the interupter cuts the pilot or on some modules safety cut out sensor also known as over heat thermostat cuts the gas supply the problem can normally be found in the flue restricting the disposal of waste products of the combustion or the lach of air flow through the appliance

I have a twenty year old worcester combi boiler with pilot light failure. It relights following instructions and is fine for a week or so then problem arises again, only this time it won't relight at all....

If you are lucky it may just be a worn out thermocouple or maybe a choked pilot jet or the gas valve may have gone faulty and require replacement, if you haven't had the boiler serviced on a regular yearly basis then a service will be required and any other worn parts replaced, fans, pressure switch, thermistors and safety stats are all parts that wear out after a few years, your oher option would be to replace your boiler with a new high efficiency boiler without a pilot, cheaper to run and better for the planet.

Looks as if your boiler is over firing (extended run) you probably have a faulty sensing thermostatic probe causing this the switch you are resetting is a safty pressure switch it is designed to keep the pressure from building which could cause the boiler to explode.

Flame backlash

The burners have an adjustable vent in the front that may have been moved. Also the vent pipe may be inadequate, that is why the roll out switch that you by-passed tripped. If you replace the switch that was by-passed I bet the over flaming stops,as the gas will quit overflowing. Most of these switches have a little reset button on them so look at it next time before you by-pass the wires.
