What do I need to Switch from a vista 64 bit Operating System to vista 32 bit Operating System?

You'll need an installation disk, but why would you want to invest the time and effort with Vista. Upgrade to Win7 instead (stay away from 8).

I installed hp lajerjet 3050 on windows xp 32 bit...and on another laptop having windows 7 64 bit operating system. when i am trying to share the printer on windows 7 64 bit...it shows drivers not found.

Same Driver will not work for win7 64 bit even if you share the printer it needs the driver for win7 64.
You will have to download the driver for win7 64bit and install in that system.

I have a CanoScan LiDE80 that wont work now with my new operating system, Windows 7...when trying to install it.. says I need drivers but can't find compatiable one??? Any suggestions as I love this...

Do you have Win7 32-bit or 64-bit? If you have the 32-bit, the driver you need is here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide_80#DriversAndSoftware . This driver works for Win2K-Win7. This is an unsigned driver and probably will not work in Win7 64-bit.

In my experience, Canon is very poor at supporting their scanners for 64-bit OS versions. In fact, they do not have a Vista 64-bit compatible version of the drivers for this scanner.

The only solutions I have found are tedious. 1) Keep your old computer that works with the scanner and transfer files on a USB drive or optical disc (RW is better for this). 2) Set up a virtual computer with an OS that works with the scanner. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can do this for free. Download Microsoft's Virtual PC and the XP mode package. Install both in order. For other versions of Win7, you will need a virtualization program (Parallels, Virtual PC, VMWare) and a licensed version of XP (or other OS that will work with the scanner). Set up the virtual computer program and install the OS.

Next install your scanner to the virtual computer and use it in that "machine". You may need to transfer files to external or optical media to share the documents. You can't install a printer on both the virtual computer and the real computer at the same time (at least with XP mode).

I hope this helps.

(I tried using the compatibility mode and accepting the unsigned driver for a Win7 Home Premium 64-bit machine for a different Canon scanner. It didn't work and I have dealt with a number of old hardware and new OS issues over time.)

My micro innovations ic50c is not installing on Windows 7, how can i fix this?

Do you have the 64-bit version of Win7? The compatibility for the 64-bit Win7 is listed as unknown.

The camera should be plug and play under 32-bit Win7 (according to the Microsoft Compatibility Center). Unfortunately, the 64-bit OS requires signed drivers and the 32-bit OS doesn't so you can't just substitute the drivers. If you have 32-bit Win7, then the problem may be a bad cable or port.

I wish that I could be of more help.

I just built a computer with 16Gb of DDR2 RAM. What OS should I put on this baby so that I can actually USE all 16GB of RAM? I was going to go with 2008 Server but someone told me Windows 7 would support...

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya.

Wow, 16gigs of RAM... thats alot!
Well, for you to be able to get full use of your 16gigs ram. You need to be using a 64BIT OS. Windows Vista and Windows 7 has 64bit versions. The main problem that you will encounter with using 64bit OS is driver compatibility with your devices. Hopefully all your components have 64bit drivers. I hope this helps.

Thanks and have a nice day.
