I have the same problem, I unfortunately cannot fix it.
SOURCE: disc eject on Hitachi DZ-GX5060E will not work
I've just received mine today from Argos Clearance Bargains (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/argos-clearancebargains/) and had the same problem. I was already compoisng a strong complaint in my mind. Anyway I tried the reset method. Remove battery; open LCD screen;hold in reset buttona few seconds; reconnect battery; set to "off" and eject .... out popped a very dirty DVD-RW.
When I reinsterted it the problem recurred and I solved it the same way. I have now permenently removed the offending DVD and the cover opens and closes fine. I will buy some fresh DVDs this weekend and see if the problem returns.
Watch this space and also let me know how you get on,

SOURCE: I have a Hitachi DZ-BX37E DVD camcorder. No
Hitachi say there is no software supplied with this camera. You don't need a driver to get the videos onto your PC. They have advice on how to use third party software to capture and edit videos on

The battery may have corroded and damaged the internal electronics.
Testimonial: "the battery was removed from the camcorder and was also not corroded"
