Hi Bruce,

Try doing it in the following order:

a) Turn on your radio.
b) Press Hold/Mon key
c) Press No.1 key
d) Press L/O key (the L/O icon should not show on display).
e) Press Hold/Mon key
f) Ch2 should be displayed

Now repeat everything d) onwards until all channels unlocked.

Once you are done, press scan and any frequency stored on your scanner will activate when reception is observed on any of these frequencies, the scan will stop on active frequencies before resuming the scan until another transmission is detected.

I hope this clarifies matters for you.

If you have not programmed any frequencies into the scanner, then it won't receive anything.

Cheers,

Jumbled keyboard numbers

Are you typing on your laptop and notice the text has become illegible? What should be letters, have become numbers or symbols. This odd behavior can probably be explained be peering a little closer at your keyboard. Those little numbers on the keys. These numbers and symbols normally become active when you hold down the function key, usually labeled as the "FN" key. The "FN" key is similar to the Shift key, activating a second function assigned to a key. It can become active seemingly on it's own because a key is locked in the on position.

Before performing numerous key combinations, try the simple thing of lightly tapping the "FN" or "Num Lock" 5 to 6 times. There may be a small particle of something logged under the key that you can loosen, move, or crush down. Do not bang the keys, just press normally. Next focus on the "Numlock" key which usually located with the "Print Screen" and "Pause" key on the top right of your keyboard. Press the "Numlock" key, then press a scrambled key to see if it's normal. Older model laptops may require you hold down at the same time, the "Ctrl-Shift-Numlock" keys. Newer models may require holding down the "Shift" key and pressing the "Numlock" key. Turn off the Function key with the following combinations. Hold down the "FN" key and hit the "Numlock", Hold down the "FN" key and hit the "Scroll" key and Hold down at the same time "Fn+F12+Num Lock"

I need an explanation as to the secondary function of the keys on my NB305. Mainly the top row of 'F' keys, but the remainder of the keyboard as well. What do all these little symbols on the keys mean?

F1 through F12 are called function keys because they execute programmed functions when pressed. Used in combination with the Fn key, keys marked with icons execute specific functions on the computer. The function executed by individual keys depends on the software you are using.

1. Sound Mute: Pressing Fn + ESC in a windows environment turns sound on or off. Press Fn + Enter to simulate Enter or the enhanced keyboard's numeric keypad. 2. Instant security: Press Fn + F1 to blank the screen to prevent others from accessing your data. To restore the screen and original setting, press any key or press the Touch Pad. 3. Power save mode: Pressing Fn + F2 changes the power save mode. 4. Standby: When you press Fn + F3, the computer enters Standby. 5. Hibernation: When you press Fn + F4, the computer enters Hibernation. 6. Display selection: Press Fn + F5 to change the active display device. Hold down Fn and press F5 again to change the device. 7. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F6 decreases the display brightness in decrements. 8. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F7 increases the display brightness in increments. 9. Wireless setting: If your computer has both Bluetooth and Wireless LAN functions, you can press Fn + F8 to select which type of wireless communication you want to use. 10. Touch Pad: Pressing Fn + F9 in a windows environment enables or disables the Touch Pad function. 11. Press Fn + F10 or Fn + F11 to access the integrated keypad. When activated, the keys with gray markings on the bottom edge become numeric keypad keys (Fn + F11) or cursor control keys (Fn + F10). The power on default for both settings is off. Press Fn + F12 (ScrLock) to lock the cursor on a specific line. The power on default is off. 12. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (reduce): To reduce the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 1 key while holding down the Fn key. (13. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (enlarge): To enlarge the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 2 key while holding down the Fn key.

Not necessary ...to unlock the device get the network unlock code from service provider, call them and tell them you want to unlock your phone because you are going overseas if they ask, but they won't and they will unlock it for you. They will send you the code to do it. here is the way you can unlock the 8800, which I used for my phone. Just get the code from service provider 1. Press the Menu key 2. Scroll to and select Manage Connections. Select Turn All Connections Off. 3. Press the red end key or the Escape key to go back to the Home screen. 4. Scroll to and select the Options icon. 5. Scroll to and select Advanced Options. 6. Scroll to and select SIM Card. 7. Type MEPD Note: When typing in MEPD the letters will not appear on the screen. This step opens up the personalization on the device. 8. Type MEP then hold ?ALT? key and type number 2. Note: When typing in MEP ATL 2 the letters/number will not appear on the screen, this step open up the ?Enter Network MEP? box. 9. Enter the unlock code. 10. Press the trackball (?Code Accepted should display) 11. Press and hold the red End key to turn the hand held off and then back on. 12. Once the device has powered on, follow steps 1 & 2 and restore connections.

Blackberry 7290 unlock proceedures

Hello.
I think I see your problem.
The 'mepd' must be uppercase. Hold the shift key down while typing in the MEPD.
Once you get into the area that shows what limitations are active or disabled, then you must use the Alt. Option key on the fare left third row of keys down. Holding the Alt. Options key, type MEP then release the Alt. Option key and press 2.
You should now be prompted to enter the unlock code. If not, start from where you had the last correct results. Also, If it will not work, back all the way out to the memo icon and try the keys you need to type to insure all of the keys are working and you are not fighting a temperamental key switch.
Good luck in your quest.
If you still need more help, just ask.
