I've had a Gigaset 8825 system for 12 years. Regular batteries were mistakenly used in the handset s for several years. If rechargeable batteries are used will it restore the handsets?

Phone holds charge from 12-55 min. and then goes dead

Your handset or charger has gone bad (provided you installed rechargable batteries), or both. The previous user may have installed alkaline batteries (is their a white powdery residue in the the charge compartment?), and that can ruin the charge circuit. Either way, you probably need to contact repair. You can go to www.cordlessrepair.com

Getting a new mobile in the registration mode with my Gigaset 8825 base station.

You need to register the handset to your base. Its easy, but first you need to clear the setting on the handset. Do this by pushing Menu, scroll to base system settings, push OK, then scroll to Base station 1, push OK, then scroll down to deregister, push OK twice, then press End. The handset should now say "please register", of which you can press OK, enter your pin or 0000 and the display should be flashing "registering base station 1". Now quickly, at your base push Menu, scroll forward to system settings, push select, enter your pin or 0000, then select. Push select again and the display should say "registering HS". Now, both displays (base and handset should say registering), keep your eyes on your handset display, once it "shakes hands" with the base it will prompt you to select an intercom number, you can just push OK. If you have problems, repeat the steps or you can download a manual for free at www.cordlessrepair.com

Beeping Handsets

Mine have done that as well.
After cleaning the contacts on both the handheld unit and the base itself, it seems to stop the problem. Try using a qtip that is wet with water or alcohol.

Siemens 8825 gigset 2 line phone

If your system was working fine, and it all of a sudden started doing this, it sounds like your base has taken a surge of some kind. Your base needs replacing. You can try re-registering the handsets, but from my experience the problem is fatal. Now if this is a new installation and the handsets never work yet on the base, you just need to register them. You can download the manuals or get tech tips at Siemens website, gigaset FAQ pages.
