SOURCE: i have toshiba satellite c650 laptop but laptopb

To reset the BIOS read the information from this link.

In case of your Toshiba laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

How do you remove the keyboard on a Sony Vaio laptop PCG-7192L

Let's see if this helps Tom,

1) http://laptoppartstore.weebly.com/replace--remove-sony-vaio-vgn-nw-keyboard.html

2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BEcX_0KYIE

The Keyboard Cable STAYS attached to the Keyboard.
It disconnects FROM the motherboard's connector.

The Keyboard Cable has NO connector on the end. It is a FFC.
Flat Flex Cable.
One example of a Flat Flex Cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flat-Flex-Cable.jpg

The flat metal terminal bars MUST be aligned back in the SAME position, as they were originally.
For this reason you may wish to take a Sharpee marker, and make a mark on one side of the cable.
Then make a matching mark on the same side of the motherboard connector, BEFORE you remove the cable.

The motherboard connector is a type of ZIF connector.
Zero Insertion Force.
It is composed of two pieces, but does NOT come completely apart!

The bottom part is larger, rectangular shaped, and is stationary to the motherboard.
It is the BODY.

The upper part is smaller, rectangular shaped, and is movable.
It is the Locking Bar.

ACCORDING to the video the Locking Bar is the Slide/Wedge type.

DO NOT use a metal tool as shown. One slip, and you can damage the motherboard! Geez!

Use your Fingernails, or Thumbnails.

The Locking Bar slides up. Up towards the LCD screen, or away from the Body.
It ONLY moves about 2mm. That is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch.

IF, the Locking Bar is broken, or the Body, you are looking at
-> MOTHERBOARD REPLACEMENT!!

Hence why I am being so detailed.

More detail on unlocking this type of motherboard ZIF connector,

A) Locked position;

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-C650-C655/body-big/disassemble-toshiba-c655-11.jpg

B) Unlocked position;

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-C650-C655/body-big/disassemble-toshiba-c655-12.jpg

There is another style of Locking Bar used, however.
The Locking Bar flips up to a 90 degree position, or also can be stated as Straight Up.

Just to make sure I'm going to include info for it too;

A) Locked position

B) Unlocked position;

How to take shell off toshiba c655-s5049, i need to reset mother board

Pictorial disassembly guide for the Toshiba Satellite C655 and C650 series of Notebook PCs,

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-C650-C655/disassemble-toshiba-laptop-1.htm

You can click on each photo one at a time, to enlarge.

Advisement:

1) Observe Anti-Static Precautions
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

I suggest you buy, and wear an ESD wrist strap, and connect it's alligator clip to a good ground source.
Example of an ESD wrist strap,

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103245

I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an empty desktop computer case.
If your table you're working on has metal legs, connect to an unpainted surface on one of them.

Barring none of the above applies, at least place a large metallic unpainted object on the table, and connect to it.
Perhaps a metal serving tray, or metal (Unpainted) knickknack.

2) Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
If no multi-compartment container is available, use a clean egg carton.
label each egg holder.

Some screws look VERY similar to other screws.
Do Not mix them up.

What do you mean by reset motherboard? If your thinking is that you are going to remove the CMOS battery for a while, then reinstall it to clear a BIOS password, this = no.

There is a capacitor on the motherboard which keeps enough residual power, so that the BIOS password stays in play, even with the CMOS battery removed.

(The CMOS battery is referred to as the RTC Battery. Real Time Clock battery.
As soon as the Keyboard is removed, it is right there on the motherboard. Uses the same battery holder as a desktop computer, and it looks to be a CR2032, just like a desktop CMOS battery )

There are two pads which are shorted across briefly, with a small flat tip screwdriver.
Usually rectangular in shape, and each approximately the size of a BB.
This drains the residual power from the capacitor.

Location? Dunno
Generally under a small piece of Mylar plastic sheet, and sometimes under the Ram Memory modules, or under the wireless module.

Also, this link has a free Service Manual,

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-toshiba

Under the Toshiba main heading scroll down to the subheading that begins with -
Satellite A10.
Go to the second line in this 'paragraph', and scroll across to C650.
Left-click on C650.
(You may also want to take a look at C655D)

After you click on the file name C650, it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up.
It may also take additional time for the file to fully download.

How do I replace the keyboard?

next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all.
