A "zapping noise" usually indicates a problem in the high voltage circuit. If it's an inverter oven, it should have provided you with a fault code. If a non-inverter, the most likely causes are a shorted high voltage rectifier or bad magnetron. But there are many other possible causes.

SOURCE: Panasonic Microwave Turn table rotates when door is open

Found this Panasonic post in the Samsung section!

If it moves just a tiny bit when the door opens and then stops, that's normal.

If it keeps running when the door is open, that's usually due to a bad door switch or broken / loose door switch mount.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Any Panasonic parts not available locally can be had here: http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/epartr

SOURCE: microwave light door turn table works but does not heat up food

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer. You can find one here.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: I have a GE Spacemaker

If everything works, but the microwave oven does not heat, this is commonly caused by a failed magnetron. The magnetron is essentially, the heart of the oven. This is what produces the RF energy that heats your food.
Here's what you need to determine whether or not its worth fixing:
1. You will need to uninstall the oven from over the range in order to replace the part (you will need to do this anyway, if you decide to buy a replacement oven).
2. You will need to ensure the oven is UNPLUGGED before servicing anything inside the cabinet. You will need to remove the exterior case in order to access the magnetron. There are several websites that you can use that illustrate how the oven is assembled:
searspartsdirect.com pcappliancerepair.com appliancepartspros.com
If you've never repaired an appliance on your own before, a microwave oven is usually not a recommended appliance to start with. Some models can be rather involved in taking apart.
3, The magnetron replacement part number for the model you have listed is WB27X10305. The average cost is about $80. NOTE: I found the part listed for the best price at appliancepartspros.com at a cost of $76.
You need to decide whether or not $80 and the amount of labor involved is worth the effort as opposed to replacing the entire oven at a higher cost and less labor (other than the installation). Review the parts illustrations at the recommended websites to see if this is something that you may be able easily take apart and reassemble.
If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful
CAUTION: DO NOT operate a microwave oven with the exterior cover off. The voltage inside the High Voltage network where the magnetron is installed can exceed 3,000 volts.

Testimonial: "Hi jsrock516 - thanks for your expert information. I don't think this is something we can fix on our own and as you said probably cheaper to replace. "

After many years of good service my Dimension 4 does not microwave. It goes through all the motions but doens not heat the food. the convection and grill functions are working fine. HELP!

Hi Michael,

i think something wrong with its high-tension circuit or your magnitron is bad.
the minor fault is open of therm stat for protection.
or burnt fuse in circuit.

Panasonic NN-A755

It does sound like the magnetron is failing, when it shuts down it is because the thermal fuse is detecting to much heat from the magnetron and shutting it down, I might add this part is the heart of the system, rough cost would be in the area of $100.00 maybe cheaper. Intallation of this part is very tricky and there is the danger of high voltage, I recommend a pro for safety and correct installation.

Model NN 9804 U microwave in Demo Mode

No owner's manual?

If you're in the US, find it here.

If you're not in the US, see Panasonic.net and look for support / download links.

Otherwise, I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

All electrical functions are OKAY, but unit will not cook anything. Unit is a Dimension 4 -convection multi cooker Serial number: 5B27170007 Model number: NN - D801

Possible causes of this type of failure:

Safety switches
High voltage supply failure
Magnetron failure
Logic control fault
uPC is holding the unit in safety shutdown

I would recomend sending the unit for an estimate.

If it is a low cost model, it will most likely not be worth to service.
