Comm 503 What is the definition for comm code 503 on a Panafax UF-490? I have a list of comm codes for Panasonic fax machines but 503 is not on the list.

Did you try updating the firmware on the machine? Ensure you follow the operators manual.

The other fax machine is not answering.

its a receiving error code means a computer was trying to fax you and it didnt connect properly

sounds like your firmware might be shot and it needs to be reinstalled, if your in canada i can recomend a tech

the 400 code is some cases is due to incorrect transmission levels, try turning of memory tx and send directly, or could try adsl filter on the line if needed, there are things that techs will be able to adjust if necessary

it means line quality is to poor or recievers fax mc is no good. if it is only happening to a few numbers then is probably not a fault with your mc

I could not find to the manual for your particular model, however the following should be close enough. Although you have set the Comm Journal to "On" you have to set the paramater to "Always" Download the manual at: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/UF585.PDF Look at page 131.
