Why no sound?

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. No sound coming from TV....recently relocated and ran TV from cable box, have lost remote to TV and now cannot get sound to work...picture good just cant get sound?

I think you are muting the the remote before you relocated...you need a remote to un-mute the sound of your TV...this cannot be done using the volume control in your TV unless you have the remote...if you loss the remote...buy a universal remote control

consigning no sound on your TV

You might need to do some troubleshooting tips first before calling a repair man to replace the sound IC inside the TV.

Hello,

First check that any muting control is not activated. This might be a button on the remote or set itself. If you have a headphone jack, it may have dirty contacts as plugging in a headphone usually mutes the speaker. If the set is mono or only one channel of a stereo set is out, then check for bad connections to the loudspeaker. Test the loudspeaker by disconnecting one of the wires (with the power off!) and measuring its resistance with an ohmmeter (it should be less than 100 ohms - probably less than 8 ohms). Or momentarily touch a 1.5 volt battery to the speaker terminals - you should get a click or pop from the speaker.

Next, trace back from the speaker output terminals to the circuit board and look for bad solder connections or a loose or dirty connector.

If these tests do not reveal anything, you probably need a scope (or audio signal tracer) and schematic. Or at least the part number off of the chip. Is the final amp a chip also or just a transistor? Have you tested the transistor? If there is little or no buzz from the speaker, that would indicate a problem fairly near the output. If the tuner/if were bad, I would expect some noise/humm pickup from the low level audio stages. Get the part number off of the chip. If it is in a socket, check the contacts for corrosion or looseness.

Check the volume setting. It might sound simple, but it's the best place to start. Make sure the television sound is not muted or turned all the way down using the remote or buttons on the front of the television. If the batteries are dead in the remote and the TV is muted or turned down, it might seem like the sound is broken.

Examine cables connected to the TV. Sometimes a loose connection can cause a loss of sound. Ensure all cables are tightly connected to the television and correctly inserted. Some peripherals are connected using a three-plug system and are usually labeled red, white (sometimes black) and yellow. Both the red and white leads are sound cables. Try removing all the cables (except the power) from the back of the television and turning it to TV mode, then listen for static or other sound.

Plug in headphones to the television with all cables re-attached. See if you can hear sound through the headphones. If you can, it may indicate that the TV's internal speakers are not working. If you can't hear anything through the headphones, it may be indicative of a larger problem.

Call a repairman. If at this point everything has failed to produce a sound, it's time to call in the professionals. A qualified technician should be able to fix the problem either at your home or in a workshop.

29 inch RCA Entertainment Series TV I was watching it when picked up remote and it muted the sound and I can't get it to unlock the mute in the menu can anyone help me figure this one out???

Hi try pressing either the mute button again or simply increase the volume to unmute the TV. most TVs respond to this procedure. Pressing the volume buttons on the tv will have the same effect if the remote has failed
